Scratchboard and Scraperboard Artworks

A group for artworks created using a scratch art or scraperboard technique.

About This Group

This group is for artists who work using the technique of scratching or scraping in their artworks. Scratch art may be done on a variety of surfaces, such as Ampersand’s Scratchbord, which is a masonite board, covered in clay and then coated with ink. The ink surface is scratched into to reveal the white beneath, and is used as a negative drawing technique. Colour may be added to the scratched surface (using a variety of mediums) and then scratched again, giving a multi-layered effect.
