This is one from my walk in the Torridons in Wester Ross the week before before I went to the Cairngorms. This is one of the finest corries in Scotland and looks out over several of the Torridon mountains. It is a fantastic walk along a pass between the mountains of Liathach and Beinn Eighe. On the way up you pass a waterfall that issues from the Loch in this corrie. This stream , which you can cross by the rocks,is the head of the falls, although you wouldn’t realise it without looking over the edge. / Sony Alpha 350 DSLR 18-70 lensHDR 3 shots autobracketed and processed in Photomatix / Featured in At The Edge July 2009 / and Scotland For Sale September 2009 /

Ailsa Craig is an island in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. The island consists entirely of a volcanic plug of an extinct volcano that might have been active about 500 million years ago.
The name given to the macgregors…stripped o thier land, belongins and even thier name…..but thier race was royal and thier spirit wis not crushed… time for another wee poem We’re the children of the mist with no land to call home, / descended from kings but destined to roam. / We were honoured in battle then hunted like game, / but the proof of our mettle is we’re still proud of our name. They outlawed our clan and the mode of our dress, / but we never measured allegiance by chance of success. / Some things we’re not proud of were circumstance led, / but what prince not a rogue to see his children are fed? Our friendship was valued by high born and low, / our steadfast belief earned respect from our foe. / No great castles had we and our numbers were few / but our clansmen before us kept our legacy true. / canny mind who wrote it
Painting in acrylics by C.B. O’Reilly and was inspired by and features my Pictish standing stone model. The mountains of North East Scotland, the majestic stag, soaring eagle and an ancient Pictish standing stone. Elements important to the Picts and that have been passed down the centuries and remain powerful symbols of modern Scotland. The spirit and the strength of the Picts live on within the landscape. For information on my models, please see my website at Longline Studio

The Bow Fiddle Rock is a famous formation on the Moray Firth coastline on the North East of Scotland. Apparently the rock gets its name from the fiddle shape, which is the result of relentless bombardment of the elements from the North Sea.

The sun setting over Ailsa Craig, an uninhabited island in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland, UK, Europe, viewed from Girvan. The plug of an old vocano, they once quarried granite there to make curling stones. It’s now a bird sanctuary.
This image is a mixture of a digital watercolour painting and photography. It features the beautiful seaside village of Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland, UK, Europe. A typical seaside town on the east coast, it reminds me why I hate modern architecture so much. Unlike today’s featureless carbuncles of stainless steel and breeze block construction, the buildings here provide a rich tapestry of textures and features to delight the eye. I’ve taken artistic licence by colouring the houses along the harbour according to my fancy, but the diversity of construction and detail are clear. Gulls are common, so I’ve added two plus there are a couple of blackbirds singing from the chimneypots. There are also two beautiful pied wagtails – one on the foreshore and its mate hopping along the harbour wall.

This photograph is a composite of several photographs taken at different times of day of a crowded Buchanan Street in the heart of the city of Glasgow, Scotland, UK, Europe. Towering over the shoppers is the statue of the late Donald Dewar, First Minister of Scotland. Some of the faces take on an almost devilish appearance.
Loch Ard lies to the north of Loch Ard Forest, west of Aberfoyle in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. / The loch is in three parts which are joined by beautiful waterways and this image was taken in October this year in the second part travelling away from Milton. / This section of the loch (sometimes called Little Loch Ard) is joined by a small channel inaccessible from the road side and is a slightly larger bay than the first, with a collection of boathouses and a boat jetty commanding views down the Loch west towards Ben Lomond.
