Clothing-Only Funny Fan-Art Challenge!
OK, we know who we are…. we hate it when they call us “geeks” behind our backs but hey, we know every answer in the Star Trek/Star Wars category when we play Trivial Pursuit! (Other categories, not so much).
The Uninitiated call us up whenever they don’t “get” a reference in the latest episode of Dr. Who. And we answer! Even though they woke us up at 1 a.m!When Abby said Connor was a “nerd” and “no one dates a nerd,” we said, “Wait a minute there, that’s me!” or, depending on our gender, “Wait a minute, there’s the guy I’d choose right off!” (And we all know exactly who they are.)
That much said, this challenge is for sci-fi geeks! We’re the ones with Gypsy, Crowe & Tom Servo on our mantles (yeah ~ speaking for myself) and/or little blue Police Box pencil-holders on our desks. We still have the original ST dolls (or if we don’t, we’d pay a lot of latinum to have ’em now). Would we wear a crazy t-shirt with a “secret message” on it only fellow sci fi geeks would ever get? You betch-yer life!
That’s the focus of this challenge: let’s see your most creative sci-fi T-designs, the kind that bring a smile from your Fellow Sci Fi Geeks but make the “average person” shake their head (they don’t get it, so they probably think you’re Just Plain Weird)! We’re going for the Smilers here, so set your phasers for laughs!
(This challenge is for CLOTHING ONLY. Subject matter must be Media Related: ie., work must reference known sci-fi shows or movies whether old or new, whether famous or obscure. Candidates include but are not limited to All Time Classics (Star Trek , Star Wars, Dr. Who), newer series such as Fringe, Primeval, Warehouse 13, classic flicks (The Day the Earth Stood Still, Close Encounters, Space Odyssey, etc) and/or lesser known series such as Red Dwarf and Blake’s 7. (What! You never heard of those?) Simply put, if it’s Sci Fi, it qualifies. Even Lost in Space!
Important Note: It is not our intent in this challenge or within this group, to infringe in any way on individual copyrights so be sure your artwork is your own!
If you enter, don’t neglect to vote! Reminders will be sent if possible (we know how difficult it is to catch the Feed). Hosts don’t vote, nor do we participate in challenges (even though we’d like to, frankly!) So it’s up to you, the Members, to select the Best! And voting’s how it’s done.
You can vote for more than one. Choose it if it makes you smile ~ choose it if it makes you think “Aha! I get that bit!” ~ choose it if you’d wear the shirt because you think it’s cool ~ and funny ~ and portrays your favorite show or movie in a cool and clever way.
Along with a winner’s banner, bragging rights, etc., winner will receive a $20 voucher from the Bubble and become a Featured Artist on the site. Hosts ~ well, one of us ~ will also buy your winning shirt!
If we have more than 30 entries, we will recognize the Top 10. If less than 30, Top 5. Banners and a mention on our Group Home Page are among the awards.
In the event of a tie for 1st place, all winners will be recognized, in accord with RB policy.
The hosts reserve the right to remove entries which are not, or which fail to comply with the theme of the challenge or the Group Rules.
Again, this challenge is for clothing only and your artwork must be sci fi media-related!
Hope you have a lot of fun with this one! The challenge will be open for 3 weeks with 1 week to vote.
Thanks to midgerock for our cover image. (It’s a Smiler.)
