Hi everyone, my name is Laura.
I study at Leicester College – part of De Montfort University in Leicester, England.
I am interested in documenting social landscapes and hope to exhibit regularly, in theory making it as a art photographer rather than a commercial one. My current project is on former petrol station sites which will be exhibited at the Leicester People’s Photographic Gallery in April 2012 as part of my degree show.

G’day everyone
My name’s Simone Pullar-Wells.
I have only a little formal training but many years of practice from passion.
I have no mentors but much inspiration. Anything can inspire, from a well cooked meal to a gallery viewing to a yarn-bombed tree.
I’ve had a few commissions and sales over the years, exploring a variety of styles from digital manipulation, photography, drawing and (ugh) painting.

Comedy can be a convincing mask for pain. I love to express humour every now and then in design.

I like spontaneous and disjointed expressions and though following one theme may produce many seemingly disconnected pieces, for the love of all things cryptic and secret.
I’m currently trying to heal past hurts through art; to say what my lips cannot; writing with pictures and words in the ink of thoughts and memories.
I look forward to meeting new people back on the bubble and would love some creative criticism and encouragement where it’s due.

Photography and digital art are my areas of work, hobby and passion. However, I enjoy all of the arts. Things that inspire me….my love..every day in countless ways. Life… The good, the bad, the in between. Also, music and the city I live in. Between them all, the possibilities are endless. I am now a freelance artist with a couple of projects I am working on with my sweet Shutterbug. I have my own unique ways of accomplishing things because I am blind. I owe much of what I’ve learned to my girl Peechez2010, we are currently working on a few freelance projects together, and hope to have more opportunities in the future. My name is Alison Mclean and I have just graduated from The North Wales School of Art and Design in North Wales, UK.

The Art School was such an inspiring place to be with all the Fine Art students and then the Graphic Design students too. My work has a strong Graphic Design element to it with strong shapes but i also enjoy printing on different surfaces and experimenting with different chemicals and substances to ‘destroy’ photos or film to achieve a surreal and different effect.

I do use post-processing a fair bit. It comes from the frustrated artist inside me, not been able to manipulate a pencil or paint brush enough to recreate that amazing image inside my head! Post-processing are my tools of choice and allow to create and ‘paint’ to my heart’s content.

Currently i am working on a ‘We Are Family’ portrait project that combines key facial features from different adult family members to create one image. The person we fall in love with often has very similar features to our own. We feel more at ease when we gaze upon that familiar mirror image, like looking at a soul mate. The children have the features of their parents. So far far I have created some very weird, wonderful and most surprising images.

Looking forward to checking out the other artists – there is some fabulous stuff on here :)

So what can i say im a student studying a diploma of graphic design so im quite new to alot of things, but at the same time i’ve been drawing since i can remember. I think my main goal at the moment is create my own distinctive “look” and to make it something other people enjoy to look at, i like to be weird and crazy in my designs and as i am in person haha anywho feedback of my works would be very appreciated, Thanks, Michael :)

Hey Heather, our title thing says “students of the arts…” but I am not an actual student in any art either and I think a lot of us here aren’t formally training in photography or painting or anything. Perhaps we should change that! You don’t need any qualifications to be in the group, we are open for everyone, so welcome!! It is good you are setting time aside to practice, it definitely takes time to find your eye.. looks like you’ve got some animal shots, that is great! Do you have a particular subject you like to photograph?

Hi all,
Unfortunately I’m not studying in arts formally. Rather trying to expose any remote artistic talents in me by spending time looking at things through my lens.
I absolutely love photography but to say I’m a novice is an understatement.
I’m trying to take 5 hours out of my busy week to solely take photographs and try and develop my skills.
Not sure if I qualify for this group, but would appreciate your feedback?

Hi Luke welcome to the group! Looks like you’ve got potential in photography, son. I’m not much for tips honestly haha. Like I’m no professional.. And I like to think with art people will do things their own way, that’s probably the best advice I can give is to do what YOU want to do even if it is not popular.
Check once in a while for new challenges, we don’t have them often really… so then when we do have a challenge not everyone is aware… so yeah haha we are laid back here, share your work and check for challenges!

Hey I’m Luke and I joined RB a month ago…I got my first camera 2 years ago and just got another one for my birthday which has motivated me even more to take some shots. I’m into loads of photography styles – I love retro shots and landscapes especially (not that I’ve taken many of these). Been to loads of cities but my profile boasts London as the most photo-worthy place :) If you could head over to my photos or simply B-mail me with tips ever, please go for it!
On my photo wishlist (things I’d like to photograph): a) retro stuff b) I’d like to try to do a proper fashion photoshoot c) try a HDR :)

Hello! My name in Jason, and I have just started INmagine photography this year. I have only been a photographer for about two years now, but I feel that I have finally found my purpose in life… something just “clicked”. I have been mentored by a very experienced photographer from here in Vancouver by the name of Jim Britton… he has been a wonderful resource for help and advice. I started shooting people about a year and a half now, and my passion and confidence has bloomed in ways I never would have imagined… My goal is to do fashion editorial shooting at a professional level, and I am also building a presence in the Mixed Martial Arts community as a promotional photographer.
