In a world where fewer and fewer people have the time or energy to think about anything, let alone the Fine Arts, and those who do seem to love categorizing art as much as looking at it, describing one’s work can often be even more difficult than the actual making of it. Nevertheless, we are obliged to do so.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; It can be quite enlightening to try and arrive at a more specific sort of clarity about what our intentions for, and suppositions about, the specific things that we create actually are.
For those of us who call ourselves Remodernists, it is certainly helpful to be able to express concisely what Remodernism is.
So, here’s the challenge:
Define Remodernism in 25 words or less.
Here’s an example: “Remodernism is an alternative to the established High Art hegemony, known as Post-Modernism, and its institutionalized cynicism and ironic detachment.”
1. Does the entry give a reasonably complete description of Remodernism?
2. Is it accurate?
3. Does it do a good job of persuading one to take an interest in your work and the Remodernist movement?
4. Brevity is the soul of wit.

First and second runners-up: have 3 of your paintings featured on our overview page for 3 months.
Due to the nature of the software at redbubble, your written entry will have to be submitted in the form of a graphic and added (at least temporarily) to your art. If anyone has any questions about how to do this, simply post your entry in the forum discussion Remodernist Elevator Speech and I will do it for you.
By the way, I entered this only to provide an example; as the chief “host”, or moderator, of the RPG, ethics dictate that I should be ineligible to win, so please don’t vote for me.
