to dark?

I think this image is to dark and would like to improve it but don’t know how – would greatly appreciate any comments/suggestions (i have photoshop elements).. with thanks

just use your editor and either uses curves but i dont think elements has it , or edit the exposure or even edit brightness

You might be able to bring out the light areas, but often with this kind of thing it will just go really grainy.. at least that’s what i found with some photos i took by the light of the fire. I couldn’t bring up the highlights without the whole thing looking really dodgy.

I use photoshop, so it was brightness/contrast that i tried first, and then curves (which lets you be a little more discerning, and move the dark, middle and light areas around). I’m not sure if elements has those, but i’d like to think it would :)
