I would like to post this image in my RedBubble account but first need to get the white of the sign fixed.
Can someone offer some advice on how to do this in Photoshop without altering much of the rest of the image.
Thanks in advance

I don’t know about photoshop, don’t have it, but from my experience with other programs this is what I’d do.

1. Copy the image into another layer.
2. Cut out the background of the top layer so all you have is the sign, then just work away on it.
3. Then merge them back together

Don’t know if this helps.

  1. Duplicate the layer
  2. Create a layer mask (grayscale copy of layer)
  3. alt-click on the mask to make it visible
  4. Use the threshold tool to black out everything other than the white of the sign as well as possible
  5. use a black brush to clean up
  6. gaussian blur the mask
  7. alt-click on the mask to put visibility back to the top layer
  8. select the top layer
  9. use the curves tool to ‘pull down’ the white value
  10. you can then use the layer opacity to tweak the final effect

NB – I’ve this with the GIMP, not PS, but the process should be similar.

OK, so that’s one way – a much easier way that I’ve just thought of is to just use the curves tool. Because you’re only talking about the very high end of the histogram, you can just set a point to keep the rest of the curve straight, like this:

I will give it a go :)
