Hi everyone!

Competition: NOW OPEN!

The theme is ‘Songs’. Songs have been a prominent part of the art culture throughout time and I think it would be appropriate to recognise songs and their lyrics in the RedBubble community. What images, emotions and presence of mind do songs put you in? How do they affect your artwork or photography? What do songs portray and give the feeling of in your artwork? In entering this competition you can express a song of your choice which influences and inspires your artwork.

Classes
Photography – Pictorial (No enhancement or digital manipulating in any way, this must be a photograph)

Photography – Manipulation (Photograph that can be manipulated in any way)

Illustration- Drawn either digitally or traditionally.

Rules
1. In the description you must include the song lyrics that inspired you, or at least a couple of verses.
2. Works entered in “Photography – Pictoral” MUST contain ‘songpictorial07’ in the Tag
3. Works entered in “Photography – Manipulation” MUST contain ‘songmanip07’ in the Tag
4. Works entered in “Illustration” MUST contain ‘songillust07’ in the Tag
5. There is no limit on the number of entries per person.

Prizes
The three winners (one from each category) will be featured on The Couch.
We will also give the winners a framed print of their entry in any size they choose.

Judges
Instead of choosing judges, we think the best way is for the whole community to vote rather than having judges. This keeps everyone more involved and has a fairer outcome.
So, we will create an email address : musicphotocomp@redbubble.com . Members can vote only once in each category, and must put Category:Artist:Work Title in the email subject line. (Note that the email address will not be active until Monday 21st May)

Start/Close Entry Dates
Start bubbling folks! Entries are Now open! Close date is 7th July 2007. VOTING will be open from the 8th July. Winners announced on the 21st July. (This gives you 2 weeks to cast your votes)

When I started reading I was going to ask, how many can we submit, but then later on read that in the rules ;) Hehehe Ot ohhhhhhhh. ;) As a prize … how about the winner gets a feature page on Red Bubble all to themselves? That doesn’t cost much yet gives recognition, and I guess RB could then set up a Hall of Fame for past and future comps as well :D:D

I was originally going to just to photography for all the organisation (forgive me, inexperienced at comps yet) but with this much interest, how about i add an Illustration class. i will update. thankyou for print idea. You do not have to wait much longer, then this will be up and running. With regards to close date: this is to be announced, but will be up VERY SHORTLY. thankyou for your patience, please tell everyone you know about it!~

That’s the spirit! =D Stumble on this forum by accident, for some reason, am I the only one who doesn’t know the existence of the secret door (aka Underground Forum)??? Must have missed it in my activity monitor. Anyway, you got my vote =D This is gonna be a real hard one since I normally listen to instrumentals and not much songs (since they are generally easier to listen to and soothing)…gotta start brainstorming for those songs I loved.
