SEASCAPE GROUP (locked)

Mel Brackstone Mel Brackstone 429 posts

This is a message board for anyone who wants to contribute ideas, or ask questions or introduce themselves for the Seascapes group.

PLEASE BOOKMARK THIS PAGE, AND VISIT REGULARLY. I’LL BE MAKING ANNOUNCEMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS HERE, AS WELL AS PUTTING UP THE FEATURED ARTIST EVERY WEEK.

For those who’d like to join the group, and don’t know how, here’s a quick rundown.

  1. Please limit your uploads to one a day, to the total of seven only. We are trying to keep the gallery a manageable size, so its important to only upload your very best.
  1. First of all, go to Seascapes and click on “join this group” Then click on “my bubble”
  1. To upload a photo go to overview….in the list along the top. Click on that and it will say Welcome you…then look over to the right, you’ll see a list of Things you can do. “Upload your work” is there.
  1. Fill in the details, and don’t forget the tags. Use your name, and words to describe your work, plus the major words from the title, separated by commas. Make it available for sale, and choose your margin percentage. Click on the button to upload it, and when it’s done you’ll see a message saying it was successfully uploaded.
  1. Then, go to your art tab, and click on Edit in the photo that you want to add. Scroll down and you’ll see the list of Groups. Just choose Seascapes there, and click Save Changes.

Good luck

I’ll check in often.

Cheers
Mel

You lucky people. I wish that I lived near a sea!

Okay I’m only 3 hours drive away but it’s still not a walking distance.. would be nice hahahaha

Thanks everyone, and welcome! I’ll be looking for suggestions too, don’t forget! I’ve never done this before…..

Excellent guidelines Mel, it makes sense to limit the amount of work, it’ll be hard though, as I live near the sea too and love going there and taking pictures, such a relaxing place to be!!

I’m going to offer some hints on promoting your work over the next few weeks. We can’t expect the bub to do all the work, it’s up to us to send some buyers, friends and family to our photos. Linking from other sites, and email footers, as well as links to your other work on each photo are just some of the ways. James Pierce has an excellent list of suggestions on ways to sell your work, please spend a bit of time reading his journals!

Every Friday I’ll put up a featured artist, and that person will be allowed to choose a photo that they want to improve in some way. Please feel free to offer any help or suggestions that you think may allow that person to produce a better image.

I have an artist in mind for next Friday, but after that, please put your hand up if you’d like to be next.

cheers
mel

I agree, Debbi June, I have hundreds of seascape shots, but we can switch them in and out, and as long as our good stuff is visible, we’ll be able to add links to our other shots. Buyers will learn to click on links :)

lovely idea for a group, thanks Mel for your work in organizing and running it. Linda

Mel…what do you mean by “that person will be allowed to choose a photo that they want to improve in some way” ?

Mel Brackstone Mel Brackstone 429 posts

It means that the featured artist will be able to choose a photo that they’d like critiqued, if they so wish. Otherwise they can just choose a photo they’d like featured

All sounds great to me Mel. Very well organised and thought out. Couldn’t agree more and look forward to seeing some awesome shots.

Hmmm, wouldn’t it be nice if a group had its own “journal” – supplied to the moderator.
I’m good at bookmarking stuff but not so good at remembering to check it! Better add it to the wish list before the Groups template goes fully live.
