Just wondering, anyone else here you Lightroom?

I just started used it, and like it! I usually use PS CS3, but my desktop is down…so im only using Lightroom atm, it’s a LOT more user friendly, and hence….not as powerful. PS CS3 allows a lot more to be done, but for a quick PP Lightroom can quite the good job!

Anyone got any good presets they’d like to share? =)

Cheers.

Everything I shoot goes through LR.
A great program for cataloging and sorting/tagging.
Maybe 10% makes it to Photoshop for cropping, or anything else I need to do.

Ive recently started using LR – I use it to get the RAW images off the camera and sort through/catalog them all. I do any exposure tweaks in LR then export to CS3 for any further editing and post processing.

Do you think it’s more user friendly than Aperture? I’ve had that program loaded for over a year, and haven’t used it much at all yet. However, it’s getting pretty tough to keep images organized. I use CS3 for all my editing, but need an organizational program. I file images, then forget where I put them.

Jan – LR is excellent for what you need.

For the price, LR is an absolute winner. Don’t know how i did without it (;->

I bought Lightroom, lost 50 pounds in one day, and instantly became the Alpha Male of the neigbourhood!

Does LR allow you to see PSD thumbnails?

I just switched to LR and love it! Can’t understand how I managed without it. It takes some time getting used to it because it is such a different type of program but once you get the hang of it, it really is a gem. Strongly suggest getting Scott Kelby’s book for LR. Borrowed one from a friend of mine and am going through it now. Walks you through all the steps and helps create an efficient work flow.

It let’s you see all your files. Can even stack a file (i.e. have the RAW and PSD version on top of one another so that you can keep things better organized.

LR is linked to PS – you can edit an image from LR in PS, and changes will be made in LR (both Adobe products).

Also – many many tutes online, including video tutorials.

I use Lightroom and Photoshop and I love both of them. I have it set up so my RAW files are imported from the camera into Lightroom and then I can add keywords etc. I do most of my processing in Lightroom and then the ones I want to do a little more on I open in Photoshop and the changes show up straight away in lightroom.

I think both programs are great. The only problem I seem to have is if I want to convert my Nikon RAW files to Adobes DNG format. When I choose this option it doesn’t seem to import all my photos only some. So I decided to just keep my files in Nikon RAW format and I haven’t had any troubles.

Any comments on why I might of had this problem though would be much appreciated.

What numbering system are you using with your camera?
LR has an option not to import images it thinks are already in your database.

Just the standard eg DSC_0001 for the camera and then for lightroom renaming by date and organising into date folders.

Hmmm.
Any rhyme or reason to the ones it does not import?

one of the best value for money programs out there on the market, is perfect for doing basic cropping touch ups. playing around with the tone curve can produce amazing results! i really love the clarity and vignetting tools

Does any one use Lightroom? What do you thin, is it worth the investment? Does it allow you to see PSD thumbnails?
