Can I join RedBubble even if I don’t have artwork to upload?

Of course you can. Many of our members are here because they love being part of a creative community and interacting with artists and writers. Membership allows you to leave comments, keep track of your favourite images or writings, and add members to your watchlist. You can also easily see when your favourite artists add new work.

Becoming a member also allows you to receive BubbleWrap, the fortnightly newsletter that showcases RedBubble’s most popular artists and content and gives you information about events, competitions and new features on the website.

Can I return a product if I don’t like it?

No – because of the nature of our print-on-demand customized products, we are not able to offer you a refund if you change your mind.

RedBubble is a creator-controlled publishing tool and we do not screen the content on our website. It is your responsibility to verify the quality of the content (including but not limited to misspelled words, grammatical errors, formatting, design or overall appearance) before ordering a product.

What’s the difference between Dots Per Inch (DPI) and Pixels Per Inch (PPI)?

Wikipedia has got a good post on this.

I’ve forgotten my password – what should I do?

On the login screen there is a link to the password reset process. You’ll need your user name and email address to reset your password (for security reasons). If you’ve forgotten either your user name or email address have a look for the original email that RedBubble sent you when you set up the account (which contains your user name and e-mail address). If you can’t find this then e-mail us at support@redbubble.com and we’ll do our best to help you out.

What colour space/profile does RedBubble use ?

One word answer – sRGB

The long version – we convert all images to sRGB for online previews and all our printing machines are calibrated many times a day to sRGB as well. We can handle the conversion from pretty much any colour space, but stick with sRGB and it’s going straight through untouched for perfect prints.

How is the product size determined?

RedBubble has three size windows for framed, mounted and laminated prints: Small (8 by 12 inches), medium (12 by 18 inches) and large (16 by 24 inches). If an image is uploaded to the site that doesn’t have a 2:3 aspect ratio we fit it to these size windows and take up as much of the window as possible. For example, a small 4:5 aspect ratio image is 8 by 10 inches.

When an image is printed with a border add 1 inch (top and side) and 2 inches (bottom) to get the final product dimensions.

When an image is framed we add at least 2.5 inches of matting on all sides (plus the width of the frame) to get the final product dimensions.

RedBubble posters are available in three sizes, with a maximum print area of A2, A1 or A0. Posters are printed with a 5mm white border around the edge.

How do you protect my artwork and copyright?

We only display your images online as low resolution thumbnails so it can’t be copied and reproduced in large formats. The large files you upload into your portfolio are kept secure on our server and only used to print orders for your artwork.

As a further layer of protection, you can activate a copyright watermark that will be displayed on the large versions of your images. The watermark can be activated at mybubble->account->edit your profile.

Supporting copyright is an essential principle at RedBubble and forms the backbone of our User Agreement.

Can I use RedBubble to promote exhibitions, my own website, original versions of my artwork, etc?

We’d love you to. RedBubble is your creative community and exists to help promote you and your artwork. Please feel free to link out to your own websites or blogs, and post journal entries about your artwork, exhibitions, successes, upcoming events, etc. You’re more than welcome to display images of your original artwork, and suggest that potential buyers contact you directly to purchase the originals or to commission you for work.

There’s also a forum called What’s On? that you can use to post announcements of your exhibitions, art competitions you’ve found, or other events that RedBubble members might be interested in. Maybe even organise your own RedBubble get-together with people in your area??
