Stupid Link Trick #5

Adding mouseover Tip text is easy

My Test Link

is made by adding parentheses and inserting the text between them:

"My Test Link(This is my mouseover Tip Text … this link opens my Portfolio; Please take a look around!)":http://www.redbubble.com/people/cbrook

Bubba says it even works with picture links too! You can even add loads and loads of text ... Have Fun and be sure to stop by and visit Lyrical Visions ... where fine art and music get together!

Cheers!

Doesn’t appear to work with Firefox though (at least, not in mine).

It shows in my Firefox although it doesn’t do line breaks like IE does …

Can you show me where you tried it so I can check? I noticed in Firefox when I added this to a link I had to click somewhere on the page, a not clickable empty area, so that it would show the effect ….

Which Firefox version are you using?

Hi Chris,

Sorry for the confusion … it turns out that I had toolbar tips turned off in my browser. Apparently, this also turns off “mouseover” tips. I’ve turned them on and now those links in your original post show the tips just fine.

I would have expected that “toolbar tips” and “mouseover tips” would be different things, each with their own setting, but apparently not.

If you want to change the setting in Firefox, go to the “about:config” page, find the setting for “browser.chrome.toolbar_tips” and double-click to toggle it.

Cheers, prbimages.
