I have a client, a maritime attorney in Florida who may (not sure yet) need a writer. Right now it’s leaning that way. If there are writers interested in getting on my reference list, please email me at: christina(atsign)dropsoul.com Please provide a couple samples of your work, you can link to RB or another site, no attachments. If you have sites you’ve written for, please list those first. I like no-frills, but engaging language. I can’t do it, but I dig it. This would be work for his web site. I wrote him the following earlier today. He really responded to it and said that it will help him focus, but he thinks he needs a writer to help him. What is required for a web site? Before you begin work, release your fear. Fear seriously curtails creative thinking. The answer is simple, so this information is short. The content for a web site is the same for any type of effective communication, which is to answer the following questions: Why – what’s in it for me? The rest of a site is back up to those main points. Some points touch on other points and link to each other. If you are writing about your experience in the “Who” text, then links to some of the points might be added to the “What” text. WHY is the most important. Do your very best to answer the question of “What’s in it for me?” from the perspective of your potential clients. Keep the answers short and to the point. If the poop hits the propeller, why would I need your legal services? What makes you better than the others? What sets you apart? Is it experience? Give examples, short stories, anecdotal evidence. Use everyday language and the shortest sentences possible. Can you sum up your business in one short paragraph? It’s a great exercise. If you were your own client, what questions would you ask? Answer those questions for a FAQ section on your site. This will save you a lot of time in the future and give you content for your other material. |
