Reason-Brisbane comp - Victorian writers only

Got this in an email today from this comp’s organisers.

THE REASON-BRISBANE* POETRY PRIZE 2008
Rules and Guidelines:

1. The poem (to be written in English, but in any style) is to be up to 30 lines in length.

2. The poem must contain the words “I couldn’t believe my luck”.

3. The competition opens Monday 31 March 2008 and closes 5pm, Monday 14 July 2008.
Late entries will not be accepted.

4. The competition is open to all Victorian residents.

5. All entries are to be the original work of the author.

6. Copyright of all poems remains the property of the authors. Organisers of The Reason- Brisbane Poetry Prize reserve the right to publish the winning poems in The Advocate newspaper, which is distributed weekly throughout Hepburn Shire.

7. Please send two copies of your poem (not the original). Entries will not be returned.

8. Format: Entries must be typed, with 1.5 line spacing, on one side of white A4 paper, wide margins (eg 3.17 cm left/right and 2.5 cm top/bottom), a clear font (eg Times New Roman or Arial) of at least 12 pitch. In this format your poem should not exceed one page. If your poem exceeds one page, please number the pages. Your name and address must NOT appear on the same page as your poem.

9. A separate cover sheet must be attached to your entry and this is to include your name, residential address, email address (where applicable) and phone number/s.

10. An entry fee of $5 must accompany each poem. Payment is to be in the form of a cheque or a money order made payable to Spa Country Events Group Inc. Please do not enclose cash. Entry fees will not be returned under any circumstances.

11. Number of entries: There is no limit to the number of poems you can enter but each entry must be accompanied by a separate $5 entry fee and a cover page showing your name, address and phone number/s. Multiple entries may be submitted in the same envelope.

13. Prizes: First place is $1000, second place $400, third place $300.

14. The judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. The judge reserves the right to not award a prize.

15. Winners will be announced at an event of the Words in Winter Celebration 2008 in
Daylesford on Saturday, 2 August. Winners will be advised by telephone, email or mail
and their names will be posted on the competition website,
www.geocities.com/wordcomp/. Results will also be published in The Advocate
newspaper in early August 2008.

16. Please advise if you require a copy of the judge’s report and/or a receipt for your entry fee in which case you must include a stamped, self-addressed, DL-size envelope.

TO SUMMARISE:
Each entry must consist of:

􀂉 Cheque or money order for $5, made payable to Spa Country Events Group Inc.
