Watercolor painting, 9×9 inches. This was a happy moment with my girls that I wanted to capture and preserve on paper. I hope they will grow up to be best friends. Painted on 140 lb Arches paper.
Graphite pencil on Arches w’colour paper. This is a large pencil portrait of my father, done quite a few years ago when my Dad was still alive. / I’ve won numerous awards with this work, but have no really good photos of it (before digital). Obviously, it’s part of my private collection. My father had lost his right hand in an accident when I was 3 years old, so always sat with his arm tucked under this way, a typical pose of Dad.

The love of my life, my heart’s desire, my greatest reward from the Gods for the hard lessons I’ve had to learn. / This young lady Claire O’Brien and I are to be wed on the 31st of October in the Australian version of Beltane (which is traditionally in May in the northern hemisphere), a Pagan time of celebration where the God and Godess are reunited finally. / A notion that couldn’t be more apt, as Claire and I met on Red Bubble in April this year, fell deeply in love, despite 10,000 miles between us. / She travelled to Australia alone and stayed with me for 5 weeks in June/July, and we knew we were born for each other, without question. / I asked her to marry me while she was here, and with immense courage we sacrificed our time with each other once again for distance, in order for her to apply for immigration, which would not have been possible without financial help from kind hearted family members, particularly Mary and Clive. She went back to England 12 weeks ago, and the visa was finally approved last week. She will arrive back in my arms in a week, a moment we have been hoping, dreaming, and begging for. / This is a true romantic story with a happy ending :) Completed 16th September, 2009 / Graphite mechanical pencils, 3H, HB, 2B, 8B on Reeves white sketch paper, A3
Graphite Pencil (2B to 8B) on A4 190gsm UPM Digi bright white paper. Featured in “Works on Paper” and “Real Life Artwork (No Photography)” October 09.

from Caroline (Australia): / I wanted something unique, something that would symbolise our unity and mark this special time in our lives. Both our relationship and our marriage were far from traditional, so I wanted a gift that was unusual and distinctive and would stand out from more traditional wedding gifts. It was quite tricky getting a picture of our hands without Ben suspecting something, but we concocted a story and manage to pull it off! Ben and I were both blown away by the final drawing. It is so intricate and detailed, and captures a moment that represents our togetherness so perfectly. It is lovely that the picture also captures my beautiful engagement ring, that was a family heirloom on Ben’s side. We have the picture hung in our living room, where we have a constant reminder of our commitment to each other. It is something that we will always treasure and it will be an everlasting symbol of our unity.
Hi Sherrie, thank you soooo much for the incredible drawing of our hands! Anke and I just love the picture and I adore your skills since I as a graphically medium talented architect think that drawing hands and faces are the premium class!! I think you are member of the champions league!! All the very best wishes from Germany / Anke & Leif Niklas
The idea for this painting came from a guy I saw on the street. The medium is watercolor, I use Arches cold pressed 100% cotton paper, and the dimensions of the original painting are 14 inches x 20 inches.
An old drawing I did a while back…reminds me of how difficult and frustrating drawing can be!!
/ Lady in Red FEATURED in the following groups: Freedom to Shine Nov. 08, 2009 / Art For The World Nov. 09,2009 My daughter-in-law was my model for this traditional painting on canvas…. I mixed paint and sand for the canvas background, then took paints and thinned them and used a spray bottle to create the drippy lines. Then finished the painting as a mulit-cultural woman. Painting is 4’ x 2’
Spray painted stencil on ply. Perhaps my favorite work to date…hope you enjoy. She is a child surviving life in the slums of Mumbai. Credit for the original photograph used as inspiration for this piece belongs to Cameron MacMaster (www.froznmotion.com).

11” x 14” graphite drawing on paper. / copyright 2000. David J. Vanderpool NOTE: This is one of the first drawings I complete, back in 2000, after having given up drawing for 6 years. As you can see my style has changes since then. This is my youngest son when he was about 1 year old, sitting on his great grandmother’s lap. This was recently scanned and a printed copy on drawing paper was given to my father-in-law. This is his mother.
