This group doesn’t accept photography, unless of sculptural works created by the person submitting.
Art Brut (Raw Art) can be loosely understood as “outside” of official culture.
Raw art, “raw” in that it has not been through the “cooking” process: the art world of art schools, galleries, museums.
Works submitted to 20 or more groups may be rejected as the moderators consider such works cannot fall within Raw or Marginal Art parameters. Likewise clothing and i-anything covers and cases. Any works where the default image shown is a “product” will be rejected.
Preference is given to art made without digital effects or computer manipulation.
Jean Dubuffet characterized Art Brut as:
“Those works created from solitude and from pure and authentic creative impulses – where the worries of competition, acclaim and social promotion do not interfere – are, because of these very facts, more precious than the productions of professions.”
This group is for those who create work within these parameters; those who look “outside” the traditions of high culture for inspiration.
A number of terms are used to describe this art, and there are areas of overlap between them.
Art Brut, Ousider Art, Visionary Art, Intuitive Art, Marginal Art.
This group is for work created in the spirit of these terms.
