Taken at Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle, WA. The Western Lowland Gorilla is a subspecies of the Western Gorilla that lives in montane, primary, and secondary forests and lowland swamps in Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Adult male Gorillas are prone to cardiomyopathy, a degenerative heart disease. Babec, a Western Lowland Gorilla on exhibit at the Birmingham Zoo in Birmingham, Alabama (USA) was the first gorilla to receive an artificial pacemaker. Binti Jua, who resides at Brookfield Zoo in Illinois, saved a three year old boy who fell into her enclosure in 2003. / The Western Lowland Gorilla is critically endangered. The gorilla is vulnerable to Ebola, deforestation, and poaching.

Mikey got the Sniffles…. I took our puppy Jessie in to get spayed the other day and it looks like she brought home a cold for the cats. Jessie is doing great but the cats are mad….LOL They will be ok but until then Mikey’s got the Sniffles.

1 Sale Framed Print This is one of two shots that I humbly submit as my “Meeko series”. / These shots were taken with my Kodak digital camera and are totally “AS IS”. / I have not even made any adjustments for lighting. Meeko is my parents Persian/Himmy mix, whom they adopted several years ago. Meeko is a very large boy and weighs between 21 and 22 pounds as of his check-up this year. / He isn’t a young man anymore either; having reached the wonderfully healthy age of 11 years. This tabby cat is on 100% alert. Well, it is dinnertime! She appears to have different coloured eyes, but in fact both are green. The sun was streaming in through the window when I took the shot, the strong light falling on her right eye. The left eye is her natural green colour.
