This sign was stuck on the bricks inside Crucial Coffee Cafe on Charlotte Street in St. Augustine, Florida. The building was little more than a shack, possibly dating from the 1700s. It was dark and also crowded with 6 people inside the tiny shop, so I took the photo and left. The coffee, of course, was NOT five cents! lol

There is light in the forest that will greet us…. surround us … and make us whole…..
The storm is passing as a cold wind and snow continues to blow. The heavens light the early night sky .. rays of sunlight dance then grace the ground. The oak tree stands proud… enduring the storm….. Image from a winter I spent near my family home in Somerset England some years ago ….

Hamer Hall, part of the Victorian Arts Centre complex in Melbourne, Australia, is best known for its soaring spire, which features in so many of the city’s classic skyscape shots. But I shot this at ground level, from the opposite side of the street, with an 18-125mm lens on my Pentax K100D. I was actually walking to Southbank from Flinders Street Station and the contrasting colours caught my eye. Because I was in a hurry, I shot only one frame. I did not use a tripod. And this photo is not cropped, enhanced or post-edited in any way. The giant ``windows’’ show pools of colour which are actually caused by the soft lighting in the walkway.
