THANKS SO MUCH TO RED BUBBLE / FOR FEATURING THIS ON THE HOME PAGE / 8th February 2009 ...let’s all play nicely here folks and keep this brilliant community a melting pot of creativity, friendship and tolerance co-hosting three groups of my own, i do know it can be frustrating at times but seriously – there are far greater problems in this world at the moment than a challenge indiscretion – and in all honesty – most people really do just get confused with all the different rules of so many wonderful and exciting groups on here and omit the required specs – it only takes a little prod or gentle (cut & paste) reminder – which basically involves less energy that it does to delete the pic and send out rude & aggressive bubblemails! Life really is too short…unwind a little…don’t measure so much – the essence of any piece of art is the creative expression captured at that particular point in time…what came from the heart and eyes of the artist…not the logistics and statistics or the definition of urban! Red Bubble is not an official high end exclusive photography club bound by rigid rules and regulations – the very opposite – it’s a collective bunch of ordinary people who share the same passion for art and photography – and who enjoy expressing themselves through their art in the hope of being respected by like minded individuals – sharing new ideas, techniques and different perspectives from all walks of life – the world doesn’t need any more bullies…♥ a-m symons / 8th February 2009 / (with excerpts from a lengthy opinion, previously on this pic, regarding aggressive bubblemails from hosts – my removal from a challenge and subsequent removal from the group) my beautiful wild white cockatoos ♥ . ♥More Bird Pics ♥ ....the Bulldog Calendar now rolled over to 2010! /

Australian King Parrot at Grants Picnic ground Sherbrooke Forest Victoria Australia. / The Australian King Parrot (Alisterus scapularis) is endemic to eastern Australia. It is found in humid and heavily forested upland regions of the eastern portion of the continent, including eucalyptus wooded areas in and directly adjacent to subtropical and temperate rainforest. / They feed on fruits, seeds or small insects. / In Australia, King Parrots are occasionally bred in aviaries and kept as calm and relatively quiet household pets if hand-raised. They are relatively unknown outside Australia. As pets, they have limited “talking” ability and normally prefer not to be handled, but they do bond readily to people and can be very devoted. / Life expectancy in the wild is unknown, but some pets have been known to live for up to 25 years.~ Wikipedia / D300; Nikkor 18-200mm ED VR / 200 mm, 1/100s,f/5.6, ISO 400

This is a group to celebrate the protection of wild parrots and cockatoos. With around 350 species of parrots and 21 cockatoos, these birds are some of the most colourful and charismatic species on the planet. Because of this, they are also among the most persecuted, with illegal trapping and poaching putting severe pressure on many of the world’s most beautiful creatures.
Here, we want contributions of parrots and cockatoos (no caged animals, plumage variations or human objects in the images please), displaying all their glorious colour and character! 1 contribution per day per person please (so that we can enjoy them on the group’s main page), and we only want your best work. Photos of dark parrots against the sky, from below, are not what we are looking for, rather images that capture the personality of these amazing creatures are desired.
It might also be fun to try to cover as many species as possible, so pictures of parrots and cockies that are not in the group will be preferred to those that are already represented.
