Inspired by living on the largest lake in Texas, Lake Texoma, for over 15 years. So much of my art and writing comes from this place. Here’s my 5/7/5 HAIKU that also inspired this work: a pelican gulps / a sand dollar in the tide; / then looks for fat fish This work has been FEATURED in the “Shoot The Moon” group AND in the “Digital Artists United” group! :) Here’s how it looks matted and framed: / Examples of 2 of my other art works: /

No more champagne / And the fireworks are through / Here we are, me and you / Feeling lost and feeling blue / It’s the end of the party / And the morning seems so grey / So unlike yesterday / Now’s the time for us to say… Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have a vision now and then / Of a world where every neighbour is a friend / Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have our hopes, our will to try / If we don’t we might as well lay down and die / You and I Sometimes I see / How the brave new world arrives / And I see how it thrives / In the ashes of our lives / Oh yes, man is a fool / And he thinks he’ll be okay / Dragging on, feet of clay / Never knowing he’s astray / Keeps on going anyway… Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have a vision now and then / Of a world where every neighbour is a friend / Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have our hopes, our will to try / If we don’t we might as well lay down and die / You and I Seems to me now / That the dreams we had before / Are all dead, nothing more / Than confetti on the floor / It’s the end of a decade / In another ten years time / Who can say what we’ll find / What lies waiting down the line / In the end of eighty-nine… Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have a vision now and then / Of a world where every neighbour is a friend / Happy new year / Happy new year / May we all have our hopes, our will to try / If we don’t we might as well lay down and die / You and I / / / Created with Incendia, Apophysis & PSP

Wow, this one was a bit of a journey! This started life as a photo of my beautiful little sister playing around in the back yard with my kids. I caught her in a pose that reminded me of a Spanish Flamenco dancer and just HAD to try to turn her into one. Only thing was – she was dressed in jeans, a woollen jumper and sneakers. So – first off, she needed a dress. I loathe using other people’s art to make my own so I did not want to take the easy way out by downloading a stock photo for the dress. I had nothing remotely like a the right type of dress to use so I ended up creating this one out of, I kid you not, 417 tiny layers of texture (my own resource, naturally) to create all the waves etc. HOURS and HOURS of work, but the end result was worth it, to my mind anyway. Then of course her hair style needed to be changed from a ponytail into a bun, and flowers needed to be added. / Then I decided that I wasn’t happy with the abstract background I had her in. Next followed a marathon of settings, again all using my own resources, to try her in, from beach scenes to perching on flower petals. Nothing was quite right. / This is what I decided on in the end. My only lament is that because she is tiny, much of the detail in the dress is lost. I hope you’ll view this large to get some idea of just how detailed the dress is, if only to humour me! :))) All resources my own, taken with my Canon Powershot A480 point and shoot in the past month. Proudly New Zealand-Made!!! :) Close up shot of the dancer: SOLD – Two greeting cards of this image, July 2009. The Pantiles from the Lower Walk / MCN: C1J1M-GJGER-BGL1N Canon G9 ISO 200 1/13 at f2.8 Texture overlay courtesy of SkeletalMess / The History of the Pantiles / The Pantiles and Tunbridge Wells itself, owe their beginnings to the discovery of the Chalybeate Spring in the early 17th century and the popularity of the spa water amongst the gentry and royalty of Georgian England. As Tunbridge Wells grew in popularity as a spa resort, so did the area surrounding the Spring – eventually leading to the building of the colonnaded walkway in the 18th century, later known as The Pantiles. / In its heyday in Georgian times, the ‘Walks’ as they were then known, were the place to see and be seen for visitors to Tunbridge Wells. A strict protocol was adhered to – gentry on the ‘Upper Walks’, the colonnade, and everyone else on the ‘Lower Walks’. Richard Beau Nash, a dandy of the day made it his business to ensure that this protocol was adhered to by acting as a kind of Master of Ceremonies during ‘the season’ in Tunbridge Wells and in the town’s rival, Bath. Things are much more relaxed nowadays and the Pantiles is now a very attractive and stylish part of Royal Tunbridge Wells. / Much of the colonnade has been renewed since its beginnings in the 17th century but most of the surrounding buildings date from the 18th and 19th centuries. Made in UF5. This one was reminiscent of a ball rolling down a rather steep and warped plane….

This is a strictly experimental image that I made, so let me know what you think. / I named it after the process of pinocytosis that happens when cells take in fluids because the little bubbles in this picture reminded me of vesicles, the vessel by which things are taken into a cells cytoplasm (I’ve been studying Biology), not that image this is anywhere near an accurate representation of the process in any way nor is it meant to be, its just loosely inspired by it (for all you science buffs out there).
If it is done in Digital we’ll take it. Tell us your process as in Fractals, HDR, Coral or Photoshop, Artrage, etc. This is not a group for simple photography.
