A Paradise somewhere.....

Group Rules:

Places we are looking for in this group include: Patagonia, Peru, Alaska, the Rockies, the Himalayas, Everest, Nepal, Tibet, the Greek Islands, Fiordland in New Zealand, Mt Cook, the Great Barrier Reef, tropical islands of the Pacific, Tasmania, Antarctica, the Arctic and those sorts of places – featuring tropical beaches, crystal clear water, pristine bays, underwater reefs, coastal walks, waterfalls, rainforests, deserts, wilderness areas, icebergs, glaciers, national parks, caves, volcanoes & alpine & mountainous regions of the world.

PLEASE NOTE! People can interpret ‘paradise’ as all kinds of different things and places, but what we are looking for is somewhere off the beaten track, somewhere where you have trekked to get to, somewhere where you are surrounded by wilderness, somewhere where a normal tourist would not necessarily get to, somewhere where your cell phone shouldn’t work! Then after you have found ‘paradise’, we require the photo to have been taken in good weather and good ight. This group is hoping to attract members who are serious hikers and trekkers who get into real wilderness areas, as that is the type of photo we are looking for.

When we have a challenge, any photos submitted to the challenge that have not been accepted into the group beforehand, will be removed from the challenge.

The following are reasons why your photo may have been rejected:

1. If they are taken on cloudy or overcast or dull days, showing grey or white or black skies

2. If the scene is taken in poor light and your main subject isn’t well lit

3. If they are over-processed or over-manipulated

4. If the colours look unnatural

5. If they have had any elements added and ‘faked up’ using a PC program like Photo Shop etc, including text, borders, layers & the Orton Effect etc

6. If the sun is below the horizon and your subject shows moving water, and it was taken on time exposure

7. If the sun is visible or if there is any sun flare visible in the photo

8. If it is not up to the RB acceptable standard

9. If it wouldn’t be of interest to the general public

10. If you have sent similiar photos of the same scene previously

11. If you don’t state the location in the description line, where the photo was taken; e.g. ‘Milford Sound, New Zealand’

12. As we are a scenery group, we aren’t looking for anything except scenery

13. Man made objects have to be kept to a bare minimum & they have to fit in with our idea of ‘paradise’

14. No photos of cities will be accepted

15. Colour photos only thanks which means, no B&W. Also no paintings, drawings or night photos.

16. If the main subject in your photo is people or animals

17. If your photo doesn’t look like our idea of paradise!

These photos are only accepted at the hosts discretion:

18. Photos across land or water that end in a flat horizon, will most probably be rejected. If you have used framing and composition to include something that is higher than the horizon, it may be considered. Shots showing the horizon anywhere near the centre of the photo have a 99.9% chance of not being accepted.

19. We’ll only accept dawn/sunrise/sunset/dusk shots that are in natural colours and not over processed and they must have trees or mountains etc in the photo – we don’t accept photos just of a flat horizon across land or water.

20. All the rules apply to t-shirts and iPhone cases

We’ll accept these photos showing the scenery of places that look like paradise:

If the colours appear natural

If they are taken in good light with the photo taken in good weather and your main subject is well lit

If your photo shows scenery that looks like paradise!

If your photos are excellent, then you won’t have to worry about any of the rules as they won’t apply to you!

We don’t have any daily limits either!

This group is by invitation only and we have done that because we are not looking for everyday, run of the mill scenes.

Normal RB rules apply on quality. Please submit only your best work and that includes tshirts and iPhone cases.

If you cannot find the reason why your photo was rejected, in the above rules, feel free to BM me please (PhotosByG) and I’ll happily provide you with the reason why your photo was not accepted.

Thank you.
Graham
