Just something of a vent about how adults sometimes underestimate teenagers, what we’re capable of, how we feel, etc. A lot of the time we should be taken much more seriously…anywho, enjoy :)
Song bemoaning modern conservatism and harking back to a more exciting time when the youth were revolutionising the world.
A poem for my mother on her birthday :) Love you, Mam x

Memories / 18/09/09
a lament for a love that went away. kind of a prayer for her safe return to him.
one can never know the extent of power / until it is in our hands power, has the ability to change a life, to save a life, to harm a life. Power; it is both dangerous and useful, it all depends on the individual, on what you make of it. It is a force that cannot be contained, it is inexorable… Featured In On Youth / Poetry & Beautiful Woman / Vibration in Art & Poetry – VAVOOM!!!

eighteen…to be eighteen is a terrible thing. too old for compassion, too young for sympathy.
just a comment on age and aging… how people react, how they sympathise – the natural reaction to the youth. / 18 august 2009.

This was one of the first poems i wrote when i started writing back in January 09
this is a fairly early work that i did a while back. its not very amazing since i didn’t spend that much time on it.
Such a song is Hide & Seek by Imogen Heap…. I often wonder what if i don’t find someone to grow old with… i think i think too much….
don’t you think its sad when you come across some people who have no respect for anything other than their own image? Now, I’m not aiming this at any particular generation, even though the people I’m talking about are younger than me; as a teenager, I know how irritating it is to have people say ‘well in MY day..’ (trust me. It’s annoying.) I just think it’s really really sad when you ask some people to please be quiet, because you or your friend has a headache and they’re making it worse by screeching and giggling loudly, they deliberately become louder to mock you. If I had no reason for asking them to stop, yes. But no, I asked because they do it every single bus journey, and my friend was feeling ill. Moreover, they mocked me because they seem to like mocking authority. As a sixthformer, it is my duty to maintain order on the bus and try and prevent behaviour that’s upsetting everyone. Some people seem to think this is obnoxious, an abuse of power, stuck up etc. I don’t, I think its common sense to not mock people for doing this, and I don’t think its mature to care more about what your friends think is cool than other people. What also upset me was that the only response from my fellow sixthformers, including the head boy who is almost as bad as the kids in questions if you ask me, was to say ‘well you shouldn’t be standing up.’ which really DID NOT help. Sorry to rant at you, but I was just so…angry about this and redbubble is generally as safe place to let off steam about this sort of thing without being accused of, I dunno, bullying.
This group is for young writers to be able to showcase their writing, and also for older writers to post their musings on childhood, children and youth.
Young people aren’t given enough of an opportunity to voice themselves nowadays. This group is here to give young writers an opportunity to let themselves be heard.
Even if you are no longer “young” (sixteen to twenty), but have poetry, stories or other literature relating to childhood, your work will still be welcomed here.
We will have occasional themed challenges, so be prepared for some competition!
Also, if you have poems in other languages other than in English, feel free to submit them. We would like to see variety and not just confine our poetry to the English language. And who knows? You just might learn something new! Or take an interest in a language you’ve never heard of.
Sister group Older Kids 8 -16 years can be joined here. This is a group for art and photographs of older children.
We are collaborating with 1620 , a group for written works, art and design by people aged 16 to 20. We will collaborate through group challenges. The idea will be to choose a photograph or piece of design from ‘1620’ and match it with a written work: poetry, a short story or a literary essay. Or, if you see an artwork that inspires you, why not write about it? Artists from that group can choose some of your written work to create art for. Everybody can interact with each other, allowing the common link between their art to be the basis for their communication and interaction.
