Shot in the North Bay at Kaikoura, 17, 07.09, low tide reflections, seal colony to the right, seaward Kaikoura ranges to the left. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Lens, Cokin ND8 soft grad, Raw files with Active D-Lighting on High.
Shot at Island Bay on Wellingtons’ south coast, 6.43am, this is about 220º, the houses on the left are on the same road as the lighthouse on the right, this is a seven frame merge in photoshop. each shot took 15 seconds and about 15 seconds to process, ISO 100, active D-lighting on High, the working file is 967×271mm. Im sorry that you can’t blow this up big enough to see its true glory, this was magical, took me several pans to get this, the lights to the right on the horizon is the dawn ferry leaving through the heads and out into cook straight towards the South Island. This is stunning, and it was a magical daw, the sun is coming up between the light spot and the pinck spot, the light spot is shining straight dawn the Hutt Valley were I live and over on the right glowing pink and peach along the Wainuiomata coast. Shot on a nikon D700, 17-35mm nikkor Lens, ND8 soft grad Cokin filter, tripod. I now realise that I need to get a dedicated “Pan Head” for my tripod to level the horizon to make the merge better. All that said, I very pleased with this result. / Details /

I had noticed the exit sign reflection on the clock and was surreptiously taking shots of it. One of them accidentally included the colleague sitting opposite me and I liked the human element it adds. Thisone reminds me of Sartre’s ‘No Exit’. Sometimes, all-day meetings do that to me.
