In the Taos Pueblo in New Mexico, the store for assorted native goods was desiginated be this cow’s head out front. It looks like it’s been hangin’ around for a good long time.
The racks above the horno are used for drying food and clothes They also make good airy and shady places to be under. The day I took this picture it must have been in the 90’s but under the racks it was considerably cooler. This is at the Taos Pueblo in NM. I used my Canon XTi with a 28-300mm Tamron lens.

Statue from the soul, the artisan , mimick of natures beauty, the coloured patina so refined, the lighting right, the shadows defined, the sky everchanging but the statue is alive, the photographer and camera Happy! If the viewer does not foster great expectation, then also consider there is not too great a dissapointment! I will go back and attempt a more superior capture, capturing the ideal and delicate moment is the challenge, after all the statue isn’t going anywhere, as well perhaps as a photographer, neither will I ! Albuquerque, New Mexico USA, olympus E-510 afternoon dinner time. and beyond.
I am leaving Las Cruces today, to return to Ohio. I will so miss the sun and blue skies. What a way to end the long trip with this beautiful view.

A group of sandhill cranes come in for a low altitude strafing run at Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge in southern New Mexico, near the town of Socorro.
In the New Mexico lowlands there are great stretches of arid landscape that can support only cacti and the hardiest succulents and grasses. But add an above-ground water source and you’ll find a riotous entanglement of Screwbean Mesquite, New Mexico Olive, Desert Hackberry, Mexican Elder, and myriad other understory trees and shrubs. Towering over all will likely be a double-lined canopy of majestic cottonwoods. Besides being the keystone plant for an amazingly diverse habitat, these iconic trees also put on a vivid coat of yellow and gold in the fall, providing a unique and beautiful backdrop that contrasts magnificently with the subtle desert palette that is more commonly seen here. Pentax K20D, 3-shot HDR, variable shutter speeds @ F8, ISO 100, 110mm.

I grabbed this shot last July 4, from my back yard in Albuquerque. I’d thought to use it as a background replacement some day, but the right situation hasn’t come up for it. Pentax K20D, Simulated HDR, 1/50 @ F7.1, ISO 200, 18mm.

This was taken in Taos, NM at the Taos Pueblo area. I used my Canon XTi .It was just a happy occasion and the weather stayed perfect for the rest of the day. Most of the time in the southern part of the state the sky is cloud-free of just a trace.
