The views from up there were fantastic and the hike was challenging in places but quite fun! The guide book said the caves were treacherous…. they weren’t kidding! lol! As is, Untouched from the camera ( Taken on July 19th, 2009 in Holderness, NH. What a day that was! I’m still smiling! ... first up in a powered parachute then climbing 2 mountains…wheew! Proud Winner of the Wet Country Roads & Rain Challenge in the group Country Roads/Around the World Dirt roads are a common sight here in New Hampshire. They each have a unique and interesting character about them. This shot was taken on a very rainy day and I was attracted to the contrast of the wet sand against the dark tree trunks and green of the surrounding woods. Photographed May 21, 2008 during a leisurely drive around the area of Francestown and New Boston, NH. I neglected to make note of its exact location or its name and, unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to find this road again since this shot was taken. Enjoy! Len / /

A set of waterfalls near the end of the trail at Glen Ellis Falls in New Hampshire
The beautiful colors of fall are sufacing more and more each day here in the Northeast and they are the subject of my first official foliage shot of the 2009 Fall season. This is a shot of some lily pads in the marshy waters adjaent to Lake Massabesic in Manchester, NH. where I went for a nature hike this past weekend. The trees that surround these waters are already adorning their glorious reds and golds and cast their beautiful colors on the water. Photographed Sept. 20, 2009. Enjoy! Comments always welcome. North Conway, New Hampshire / Nikon D40, Nikkor VR 55-500mm lens / October 2009 “North Conway and its surrounding towns offer some of the best hiking in the White Mountain National Forest. It also features some of the best rock climbing sites on the East Coast, its gem being Cathedral Ledge in Echo Lake State Park. The 500-foot (150 m) cliff overlooks Echo Lake from the west and the Saco River and the Saco River valley in the east. Cathedral Ledge has an automobile road to the summit, which provides fine views of the Saco River Valley.” / ~ Wikepedia
North Conway, New Hampshire / Cathedral Ledge / Nikon D40, Nikkor VR 55-500mm lens / October 2009 “Rock climbing is a sport n which participants climb up or across natural rock formations or man-made rock walls. The goal is to reach the summit of a formation or the endpoint of a pre-defined route. Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, one that often tests a climber’s strength, endurance, agility, and balance along with his or her mental control.
