There are so many prayer wheels in Nepal, sometimes you can pass them by without noticing them. This one, however was not one to pass by!! At Boudhanath Stupa, Kathmandu. Shot with an Olympus 790SW from afar (hence the small image size).

/ / Boudhanath (Devnagari: बौद्धनाथ) (also called Bouddhanath, Bodhnath or Baudhanath or the Khāsa Caitya) is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Kathmandu, Nepal. Located about 11 km (7 miles) from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, the stupa’s massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal. The Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath dominates the skyline. The ancient Stupa is one of the largest in the world. The influx of large populations of Tibetan refugees from China has seen the construction of over 50 Tibetan Gompas (Monasteries) around Boudhanath. As of 1979, Boudhanath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to make it Khumjung on our way back down ‘the mountain’ as the weather was coming in and we were in ‘sleeping bag’ mode. Luckily, the stop offered more than a sighting of the Yeti skull and street lights!! It was already late in the afternoon and the snow had just begun to fall consistently- this lady had also obviously decided it was time to head back indoors.

Taken from our campsite at Dhole, Nepal at an altitude of 4110m. I can’t remember the name of the mountain but it might be either Glyeng Kyaba Kharka (5477m) or Kohanar (4050m). Perhaps someone can assist with the name. It was so cold I could hardly get my hands to work so I could set this shot up. Taken in natural light (nearly dark), hand-held on 28/10/2009 19:06:47 Canon EOS 40D, EFS 17-85mm f/1.4-5.6 IS USM, 1/160, 10, ISO 400
