Rough seas in 1893 washed the “SS Dicky” ashore, and like an iceberg, is mostly covered by sand these days. After several days of rough seas again the last few days, most of that sand has been washed away, and she is exposed again. This photo taken about the middle of an incoming tide, the seas were 5 metres (about 15 feet). My lens got a nice soaking during this shoot, and I almost lost my footing (and camera) to the swell.. Canon 50D, 10mm. “SS Dicky” Dicky Beach, Sunshine Coast, QLD.
BEST VIEWED LARGE More of some the wonderful sandstone of Sydney. This time it is around Millers Point with the added feature of a plant growing from the midst of a man made sandstone brick wall. The affects of weather and pollution to the rock and brick have added a fantastic texture that I couldn’t resist. Some days it pays to grab the camera and just walk around an area and look. Making sure you don’t have any preconceived ideas of images and you may just surprise yourself with what you take home. I was hiking around checking out a new location…and found this old Chevrolet hanging out on top of a waterfall. / I personally? Would LOVE to stick my Kia Pieca Crappa on top of a waterfall and let nature take it’s course with it!
Little remains of the old dugout cabin, except the door frame constructed of rough cedar posts, granite rock, and bricks. From a certain vantage (underneath a very large sage bush), one old cabin stands against the horizon as a jet passes over the sleepy village of Cherry Creek, NV. At our base; history and heritage a crumbling foundation; / To the casual observer, a few old relics of long ago life in a mining camp; / Above: technology and the future, passing by oblivious to this tiny, disappearing island. This street pole overgrown with vines and flowers extending out to the overhead line looks like a traffic director to me! lol

This group is dedicated to searching out and finding Gaia (Mother Nature) in action.
From a sidewalk slab split in two by the slow growth of tree roots to a crumbling building covered in vines, slowly being eaten alive from within.
I want to see all your shots depicting Nature triumphing over mankind’s mess.
To clarify:
A rusty car sitting in a parking lot or just an abandoned house: not good examples
A rusty car sitting in a overgrown field or an abandoned house with a tree growing from it: great examples of Nature’s Reclamation
And of course, a waterfall or a tree is beautiful but does not follow the theme.
