About This Group

Welcome to Nature’s Patterns and Designs!

We invite you to submit your photographic works (no paintings, drawings, crafts, fractals, etc.) of interesting shapes, designs and patterns that you find in your nature outings – or right in your own back yard. Close-up or distance (mountain range outlines etc, as opposed to a scene or landscape) is fine – just find patterns! Nothing urban please, just nature.

The hand of man (buildings, fences, signs, vehicles, roads, docks, etc.) should be minimal if present at all.

No human figures or parts thereof unless they are very small and only a minor part of a photograph. Likewise, no pets or domesticated animals (dogs, cats, hamsters, goldfish, horses, cows, etc.). For more information, please refer to Wikipedia’s list of domesticated animals.

Images may be enhanced digitally, but anything too far removed from the natural will not be accepted. No frames or borders. No text on images. (Discreet signature/watermark OK.)

Images must be submitted in “image only/picture” format. No phone/laptop covers, apparel, greeting cards, framed prints, pillows, tote or drawstring bags, duvet covers, or mugs as the default image.

Submit your own original work only. Not acceptable: stock art or stock photography created by others in composites or on its own.

Check rules for further clarification, and check featured images for a guide to what we are looking for. Please note that images not fitting the group’s criteria may be removed without notice. Host’s decision is final – thank you for understanding. Members who persist in adding inappropriate images to the group may be subject to removal from the group (only after two or more warnings).

No Soliciting of Votes in Group Challenges! Any member found using Bubblemail, Facebook, multiple accounts or any other method to increase votes will have their work removed from the challenge and their group membership canceled. Please play honestly, and let your image win on its own merit.

Note: Images submitted to this group may be used as avatars for challenges or group banners. Images may also appear in forum posts for features and challenge results, or on the front page (challenge winners). By adding images to the group, you are agreeing to allow such use of your images in the group.

Group hosts do not feature each other’s work, nor do they participate in challenges (other than voting).
