The Top of Mt. Diablo, CA Looking S.E. with a Rising 3/4 Moon. / Notice the Shadow of the Tip of the Mountain on the Landscape… it is my favorite feature of this capture.
This image is dedicated to my dear friend Arla who sparkled my memory with her beautiful capture Mountain Meadow Lupine. Here Heavenly Father smiles to you, Arla. Eagan Range is behind that forage-cap shaped hill. Cherry Creek is further to the right. (Arla knows that. This information is for other readers of this.) This image has been captured in Kalamazoo Recreation Area, Schell Creek Range, Eastern Nevada.
I have been inspired by a lot of photographs on RB especially those which show the special quality of light at certain times of the day. I find photographing during early morning or evening provides the best lighting in most cases. Therefore, I always try to make an effort to be at a location before the sun rises so I can be ready to photograph. The trail approach to this hike involves a drive up a winding narrow road to the trailhead. I headed up the Dry Ridge Trail at 4:30 am to a rocky knoll which gives views to the Cascade Mountains. At this time of year, the wildflowers are blooming; the most prevailing ones being Spreading Phlox. They are delicate but hardy plant which form ground hugging matts; their color ranges from white to pink. Across the way, the rugged Cascade Mountains form a perfect backdrop; Mt Winthrop (left) and Mt Frosty (right). / Dry Ridge Trail, Manning Provincial Park near Hope, B.C. / Nikon D50, 6 MP / 17-70 mm Sigma Macro at 26 mm / f22, 1 sec / Polarizing Filter

seeing a few people posting their winter pics, thought I would dig out a couple of faves from the big mountains in Nepal. This one the mighty and beautiful Ama Dablam 6856m. Featured in “Mountains and Mountain Light”.
The Buachaille forms a perfect pyramid at the head of Glen Etive as you travel across Glen Coe. The Scottish Gaelic translates roughly to mean ” The great herdsman of Etive” or the “Shepherd of Etive.” / Immensely popular with climbers and photographers alike ! / Mother Nature very kindly placed a burn (stream or river) in JUST the right place for a wonderful photographic composition ! I have applied a little HDR. / Taken on my CANON EOS 20D, with polarising filter, f22 for DOF and to blur the moving water, mounted on a tripod, a single RAW file processed in Photomatix, and adjusted in Photoshop CS3. Nikon D70 This is one of those roads that go off of the main highway and just keep going and going, to who knows where! But the road to nowhere sure was beautiful!!! Located in Nevada along the Loneliest Road in America “The name was intended as a pejorative, but instead, Nevada officials seized it as a marketing slogan. The name originates from large desolate areas traversed by the route, with few or no signs of civilization. The highway crosses several large desert valleys separated by numerous mountain ranges towering over the valley floors, in what is known as the Basin and Range province of the Great Basin.” – Wikipedia
This is a 3D Stereo Photo of the Himalayas with the top of the world – Mount Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m – 4th highest mountain) beyond a pass through the Rolwaling Himal. Taken on an Everest scenic flight on Yeti Air in 2006 with a Canon 400D using a 17-85mm IS USM lens with circular polarising filter. A horse tail falls runs from the cliff overhead and screens the opening of the cave with mist. Once a hunting place and shelter of the Sheep Eater band of the Shoshone Tribe now this place is a wonder to those who travel into the wilderness of central Idaho on the Middle fork of the Salmon River. The falls is nearly completely blown away by the breeze before reaching the groto floor some 80 or more feet below the rim. When the breeze lets up it falls as a soft rain on the lush foliage. / Nikon D200, 18mm, Circ. Pol., Grad Split ND. / 1/20 sec @ f22, ISO 400
Parque Nacional de Los Glaciales, El Chalten ( Argentina ) ! After hiking a few hours I came across this beautiful scene, at least for me. Although I could feel like a sense of desolation at the same time I loved the scenery in front of me. / It may look a quite a simple shot.. and it was… but I was so exhausted that I really struggled to take my camera and press the bottom. / I think I could have taken fantastic pictures here just my body and my mind were too tired !

Sit and take in the life of the water / Slowly release all the stress of the day / let your mind relax and body re-alter / As your soul sends all your worries away Trudi 09 Sometimes we just have to slow down …........... The rugged cliffs and craggy escarpments of the Grampians are dotted with many waterfalls, including the picturesque Beehive Falls that drop into a sheltered rocky valley. This gently undulating track follows the meandering Mud Hut Creek upstream, through forest to a series of rock steps and on to the falls, surrounded by colourful cliffs. At Beehive Falls delicate ferns and mosses cling to the sheer rock walls as the cascade tumbles over huge boulders in its 25-metre drop. Large stones beside the rock pool at the base of the falls make a peaceful picnic spot. Return by the same route. The walk is especially beautiful in spring, when water levels are high and the display of pink and white wildflowers spectacular. From Parks Victoria This was taken in the middle of the afternoon on a day with quite challenging light conditions, by the way this faces l would say the perfect time to photograph it would be on a day that was very very overcast or before the sun rises over the escarpment / Beehive Falls is in Roses Gap at the Northeren side of the Grampians {Gariwerd} NP Australia !
