This is where the Hurricane River meets Lake Superior

Decided to head out and look for some shots under the harvest moon. This was taken after the sun had set and no light was supplied by the sun. Thanks for looking. This is an eleven image HDR. Each image was a full 1EV apart. That was so I could capture the brightness of the moon and the gazebo which was in the pitch black of the night. The bright yellow spot is a lamp post behind the gazebo. Thanks for looking. This is a closer view of the storm at our pier in Holland Michigan. Just after this happened I received a big splash with the wind.. I got wet and the camera got a bath.. I had a big paper towel to wipe it off and pull out the battery.. No problems .. Gads.. Its hard to imagine how much of a water surge is going on.. But let me say that the pier has about 8-10 ft of clearance from the walking area of the pier until it hits the water.. None of my friends would go out there to help with the perspective figure that.. Hope you enjoy.. This is the first upload not using dial up.. It would take about an hour to do so.. LOL.. / Chuck.. Oh Yes It’s Large
Vacations are just too short. After a week of beautiful sunsets over Lake Superior it’s really hard to go back to work. Mullet Lake in Topinabee, MI.
As is. Sunset Bay is my magical place on Lake Superior. I seem to get recharged once a year when I spend time there. Don’t think I need to explain why it’s called Sunset Bay. / Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan. Canon DIgital EOS Rebel XT / aperature: f5.6 / exposure: 1/60 sec / focal length: 28mm / ISO: 200 Featured Work: Michigan Outdoors, Sept 2009 /
Hunters brook under long exposure. Lucky how wilderness changes. That beautiful birch log on the bottom was not there last time I was here. I made sure to include it because I had a good feeling about that water cascading over it. If I remember right this was a 6 minute exposure under a sunny cloudless sky. Very hard light to expose for both foreground and background. I still like how it came out. Cooled the temp and gave it a sharpening kiss. / Canon XSi / B+W nd1000 / B+W CPL / Hat to prevent lens flare (yes I held my hat on the side of the lens for the whole 6 minutes)
Beautifully clear evening in Michigan!
This beautiful old church is in Bad Axe Michigan, the date on the side of the church says 1899. Nikon D90 / 18-200mm VR Lens
Converted the color long exposure to LAB color and used the lightness channel as a base. Added a cooling filter to give it that icy cool. / Canon XSi / B+W nd1000 / B+W CPL
I searched the internet for a really long exposure of Tahquamenon Falls but couldn’t find one. So I figured that my first real shot with my new 10 stop filter would be of this amazing falls. This is a blend of 3 long exposure shots. The first one was 4 minutes, the correctly exposed one was 5 minutes and the bright one was 6 minutes. / Black and white to come soon. / Canon xsi / B+W nd 1000 / B+W CPL
Captured this with my Canon 350D – worked it over in PS – in fact there is a series of photos I will be presenting . / Enjoy
It could be an eagle, or hawk,or vulture eating its prey, which is a squirrel. This was taken in Michigan about a half mile from my home.

On a misty, rainy afternoon here in Michigan with nothing else to do. I ventured out to Elizabeth Park in neighboring Trenton, Michigan…and took this shot of it’s walking bridge! Reminded me of Van Morrison’s song , “Into The Mystic”. Model: NIKON D40 / Shutter Speed: 10/1250 second / Aperture: F/5.6 / Focal Length: 55 mm / ISO Speed: 400
