1 I just ordered two snoods from a Civil War Reenactment Society in the States; not for any particular reenactment, but just because…well, I really like snoods.

2 A particularly aggressive young man snarled to my face on Saturday in the street: Redheads! You should all be drowned at birth. A lovely start to my weekend, and not the right thing to say to a woman with a redhead’s temper.

Topic: The Main Forum / June meetup - this weekend

I’ve just had such a shock – I peeked into this forum and saw that the last post was months ago. So I need to ask…people, what the hell is going on?!

I tend to stick to the writers’ forum – yes, there is one – and keep that kicking along, so to come here and see no-one bothers with this one is somewhat startling. So I thought I’d throw out an invitation to try and breathe some fresh air into this place.

For five years now, the Melbourne and Victoria writers have had a regular meeting on the first Sunday of every month. Red Bubble isn’t localised around Melbourne anymore and so our days of having twenty bubblers crowded around a table, cameras flashing, are no longer likely. But all bubblers are welcome as it’s just as much a social event as an inky one; a chance to clink mulled wine glasses with other artists and discuss what inspires us, what blocks us, and just why we do what we do in this little corner of the internet.

So if you’ve ever felt like meeting other bubblers in person, or you used to come and just haven’t found time lately (you know who you are!), it’s on this Sunday, and you’re all more than welcome.

If you’re interested, take a look at the writers’ forum thread here.

The pub is beautiful, all the bubblers are friendly, and the mulled wine is AMAZING.

Come on….you know you want to.

Just posing the question for now, as the weather at this time is still often good, if not warm.

Topic: The Main Forum / World's Greatest Shave 2012 - I've registered!

Hi everyone,

I’ve done it, after a bit of time procrastinating, I’ve signed up for the World’s Greatest Shave 2012, in order to help raise funds for cancer research & patient / family assistance. More info can be found here: www.worldsgreatestshave.com

Thankfully I have not had cancer personally, however I have had a scare in the past, and I have close friends who have lost loved ones to cancer, and recently have had a family member diagnosed.

I have set a goal of $5000 which I hope to raise by March 15, which is when the shave will take place…Any donations, large or small, would be greatly appreciated!! Spare a thought (and a dollar!) for those people affected, and their families.

The site below is my personal page, where you can sponsor and leave comments:
http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/bobbielyne

Thanks for your help!

Hey all, new to redbubble and first group! I just finished a year long visa in australia where i spent most of my time in Melbourne after backpacking around the country. Im from Alberta, Canada and photography is a hobby that after finishing a degree program I hope to turn into a career.

I joined because of the immense amount of amazing australian photography I have seen on here. The country is so beautiful and I plan on returning soon for more.

Cheers,

Tyler

1. I adore creating. Doesn’t really matter what it is, I just love doing it.
2. I hate over consumption and Christmas kind of makes me freak out. This is the first year that I have thought about how many individuals benefit from this mass spend session and I really hope that people start placing value in the local hand made produce, rather than the mass produced.

Topic: The Main Forum / Anyone know of somebody with extra space they don't want?

I understand that this isn’t really a place for personal issues, however, I’m getting pretty desperate to get out of the suberbs and my current situation is extremely volatile so I could be asked to leave at any point now. So if anyone knows of anyone who has a spare room they want to rent out could you kindly pass on my email address? Close(ish) to the cbd is better because I’m now working full time in the cbd and the hour and a half commute is ridiculous.
I’m more than happy to help with any and all housework, in fact I’ll insist on it. I’m quiet and keep to myself and won’t be inviting hundreds of people over on a weekly basis. I’m an awesome cook and I am respectful to everyone.
I have literally no preference to age/ gender/ number of people, I can get along with just about anyone.
Thanks for reading. Hope to hear from someone.

Topic: The Main Forum / Sports photography - assistant required

Hi all

Looking for an assistant to help with, and mostly perform as a second photographer at the Australian Masters Athletics National Championships to be held in Melbourne over the Easter long weekend, April 6-9 next year.

I am still in the throws of negotiating how payment will be handled, but may only be able to offer you petrol and food money for each day. Then again, I may be able to offer a more substantial fee – still waiting on negotiations to go through.

It’s a pretty big event, and a great chance to get some sports experience. I’m not sure exactly yet what events I’d need you to cover, so please just send me a bubble mail or contact me at craig@craigfletcherphotography.com if you are interested at all.

I welcome interest from photographers of any experience level. And please pass this on to anyone you think may be interested as well.

Cheers guys!!

Craig

Topic: The Main Forum / Bald Model - Let's Collaborate!

Hi everyone,

I am looking to enter the “World’s Greatest Shave” in 2012 – www.worldsgreatestshave.com – to raise money for cancer & leukemia.

I would love to collaborate with anyone interested in doing a photoshoot after the shaving has been done ( I already have a plan for the shave itself…) I will not be bald to the skin, as they discourage using blades for health & safety reasons, however I will do a no. 1 – my hair will be around 1mm long. I may continue shaving it, depending on the feedback I get!

I would love to hear any ideas, I won’t do explicit / pornographic shots, however I will do nudes (tasteful & paid only). Everything else is up for discussion, I would love to document this event in as many ways possible!

I realise that there is still 4 months to go, however I am just putting it out there now, to see what comes of it. Looking forward to hearing any ideas :-)

I’m joining the queue!
hello! I currently have a dozen or so original acrylic/collage works in Ashburton library where they will be until at least Christmas. I do many other types of work which you can see in my profile here (on my website too but everything is here).
I’d be interested to hear from you if you are still looking for works.

Hello fellow Melbournians, I thought I would share this as I believe it is a great opportunity for any train fans to possibly take some good photos.
On SUNDAY, 04 DECEMBER the R707 “CITY OF MELBOURNE” will be having a big day out: the “STEAM & CUISINE” SUBURBAN TRAIN TRIP.
I would love to be on this trip but unfortunately it is my mothers 80th birthday and the best I can hope for on the day is a photo or two (if I am in the right place at the right time). It will run as far north as Craigieburn and as far south as Frankston. This is a link to the 707operations website, which doesn’t give a very detailed timetable of the trains movements, but is a good starting point.
Hope you get some good ones and share them in this group. Cheers, Rob.

Topic: The Main Forum / Assistant Needed for Photoshoot 19/11/11

Hi Guys,

I know this is short notice, but I have just had a cancellation and I am running out of time.
I hope somebody can help!

I am looking for somebody to assist me at an upcoming location Photoshoot on:

DATE: Saturday 19th of November.
TIME: 12-4pm.

Due to the nature of the shoot, I would prefer a female (sorry guys).
This job is for you if you can hold a photographic reflector and help guide models into position.
Any previous experience would be a bonus, but not essential. (First timers welcome!)

TERMS
Unfortunately, I can not afford to pay you for your time – but I am willing to give you an “assistant” title and credit with link back to your RB profile (or anywhere else).

Feel free to ask any questions or check out my profile for previous shoots I’ve done.

The successful applicant will be notified by Bubble Mail of location and any other details in the next couple of days.

Thanks again
Andrew

Topic: The Main Forum / Buying a Digital Body/Len- Overseas vs Down Under

Michael,I have bought two bodies and two lenses over the last few
years for work www.camerasdirect.com.au through these guys. Based in Brisbane, overnight signed delivery, very well boxed and packed – which of course is necessary due to the expensive gear inside.
