Fall here in Minnesota
This picture was taken in late August at Chester Bowl in Duluth, MN. The leaves were already changing!
Taken from the rocky north shore of Lake Superior at Artists Point at Grand Marais, Minnesota, USA. It was a wet, stormy day. Nikon D300, Nikor 18-200, ND 1.8 (6 stop) filter
Highbush cranberries are definitely an Autumn delight. They make my favorite wild jam even though they smell a bit like ripe athletic socks while they are cooking and they contain seeds that sometimes present a challenge during the removal process. These bounteous berries are also favorite fare for ruffed grouse and smaller birds on their fall feeding rounds. This cluster was found along the Lake Superior Trail near Duluth, Minnesota and enhanced with just a bit of Redfield Fractalius to bring out the jubilant spirit of the berries. Taken on the Mississippi river North of Wabasha, Minnesota. Looking to the right about 1/3rd up the side you can see two anglers with their boat who just can’t wait for the Fishing Season to warm up a bit. Think they must have had the Winter Blues and had to get out. View Larger

Ominous weather finally caused this flock of ducks to take flight. I had waited quite some time for these birds to leave, however, it wasn’t until I removed my battery that they actually took off. I ran to my bag, grabbed another battery, took a breath and luckily still got this shot. Taken with a Canon 7D, IS0 100, f2.8 in Av mode in Eden Prairie, MN.

Minnesota State Fair – 2009: The photo club (Crosstown Camera Club) was doing Neon as the topic of the month so I went to the state fair to try some time exposures of the rides . . . this one got a 10 from the club judge. Time was about 2.5 seconds … had to try lots of different times/exposures and catch the ride at the top … 50+ exposures to get it “right”.
Taken from a parking ramp to the east of the Minneapolis Basilica. Actually used Google Maps and a sunset chart to line up the shot and pick a day when I “knew” the sun would be in back of the Basilica . . . . this is the HDR results of that little bit of planning . . . . .
A place for Minnesotans (or visitors to Minnesota) to share their art and their favorite places to photograph in our lovely state.
This group is primarily for those who live in Minnesota, but is open to anyone who would like to share their work while visitng Minnesota. All photography must have been shot in Minnesota, with the location listed in the description, and all art must have a Minnesota theme. Think of it this way; if someone had never been to Minnestoa before, the work you submit should give them a visual image of Minnesota life or landscape.
