Some of the most isolated and rugged coastline in the world is found on the North Shore of the Big Island of Hawaii. This shot is part of miles and miles of amazing cliffs and valleys that flow into the Pacific. This one is called Pololu Valley (a county park) and part of the old movie Jurassic Park was shot here. There is much virgin land here and there is never a crowd, as it is a bit of a drive from any tourist destination. But if you ever get to the Big Island, don’t miss it!! Taken with a Canon 5D (at 1600 iso) and a 28-135. Featured in Top Shelf Nature and Wildlife

Shot with Canon 5Dmk2 and Canon 24-70 2.8L lens (34mm) at f22, 1.6sec Auto WB ISO50 in Apeture mode. / Red Rock, Yuragir National Park, Mid North Coast, NSW Australia. / 812 viewings I would like to thank my good friend Simone Byrne for her advice and encouragement with my landscapes. Check her out on RB if you want to see some truely outstanding photography. I think this is one of my best images. Believe it or not it is very difficult to capture images here because of its bearing and landscape. The colours of the rocks, the short duration of light and the bright sky tend to cause loss in a significant range in either highlights or darks whichever way you try to capture it. I had to use an 8 stop neutral density filter and 4 stop grad ND to get a balance between the two.
Taken around 7.30 a.m. on late May morning on my first trip to the Outer Hebrides. I got up before dawn to take photos at the standing stones of Calanais. The early morning light was wonderful and I seemed to have the Hebridean island completely to myself, so I continued up the coast for a couple of other stops including Dalmore Beach. Back to the B&B very hungry my full Scottish breakfast:-) Nikon D70, Nikkor 18-70mm. 33 mm; f/3/8, 1/1250s (I’ve learnt a lot since then and would not chose those settings now…) / Post-pro in CS4 with Nik ColorEfex. Late evening sunshine falls on the off-route beach of Small Mouth, which lies between Combe Martin and Ilfracombe, North Devon, UK. To reach the beach you need to take the coast path and then climb down numerous steep steps clinging to the cliff face…..the climb back is literally breath-taking! The cliff of Little Hangman lies in the background. Taken June 2009. Olympus E 510 / 18mm (14 – 42 kit lens) / f/11 1/125 iso200 / Raw conversion/Elements 7

These small purple flowers are loaded with loops, hoops, and curlicues, which I never noticed until I saw them after shooting in macro. Sometimes we forget to look for the small details in life—they are usually the most interesting! Taken with a fuji FinePix A500. Featured in: / Backyard Macro and Closeups / Purple Passion Gallery /
Durdle Door is one of the most iconic landmarks along the Jurassic coast in Dorset, England. / This shot was taken on a September evening and the light that provided the final image only lasted a couple of minutes, so I was very pleased to get the shot I had hoped for. / Taken using a Canon 40D, Sigma 10 – 20mm lens, F/16, 6 second exposure and a 3 stop ND filter. / I have made some slight adjustments to the contrast and had to remove via photoshop a few people that were also enjoying the scene .
This shot was taken looking across Port es Saies on the beautiful Isle of Sark in the Channel Islands.
Jackson Bay, West Coast, South Island, New Zealand. / I spent four days out on the coast, waiting for a sunset. It rained the whole time, untill the last day and there was a small gap in the clouds. / Nikon D200 /
