As mentioned in my Penguin in a Snow Storm, I saw mobii’s Origami Penguin Tee shirt, and wanted to give it a go myself. This is the scenario I had in mind for it, and the first penguin I folded (the one in Penguin in a Snow Storm folded from a 7×7mm piece of paper) was too small, so I folded two bigger penguins with 14×14mm pieces of paper. The one on the left is flying up a bit after the right one stomped onto the other end. The seasaw is a cotton swab, and the “ice”, upon which the penguins and seesaw are reflected, is a plastic container. But I’m very thankful to the host Pene who has re-accepted my work into the group and made a special note in the challenge about my winning work. / / / / / It looks great on a card! A tiny gromit dog undergoes an eye test – but he’s flumoxed. And why not, it takes a magnifying glass to see either of them…..
Origami Calendar Folded a monkey from a 15×15mm piece of paper. It hangs off the fork pretty well; and even if it falls, at least it won’t go hungry :o). Taken with an Olympus FE-340 on September 28, 2009 Originally my idea was to just have it with the fork alone as monkey bars: Then suddenly had the urge to take it with a banana. I was debating between this shot I have up now and this one: Feel free to advise or if you prefer one of the above. If there is a majority vote, I may switch. For a better idea of scale: He’s got his arm up to look taller; but I can see his head is below the 5mm mark :P Also used the same type on monkey in Monkey Mischief This work has been feature in: / Little Things to Make you Smile / The Woman Photographer

My daughter was having a snail race last weekend on the specially made snailrace board I made for her one day . The little one were having an easy ride but did not make it to the finish. The big snail still won !! ;o)) / This is really fun for the kids and you can number the snails with a texture. /
This will be the last origami piece I post before heading off to Rome; and I will unlikely be doing anymore while I’m in school. I’m not fooling around; I made these ducks before in the first version of “3cm Family Swim” as shown above; and remember I said I may redo that shot at some point? I’ll still keep the other one up though. In this coloured version I coloured the water and sky and placed a transparent ruler over the water. This one has one less duckling than the previous one (I laid off the little guy who wouldn’t raise his bum :P) Every duck was folded from trace paper; mommy duck was folded from a 15×15mm piece, the middle one was 6×6mm, and the little one at the back 5×5mm. Moby the Pearl scale or Golf Ball Fish. I was changing Moby’s water and only had the glass at hand. When I got him in the glass I looked over and thought how cute and how funny. Pearl scales are very funny fish to watch swimming in a tank, they wiggle and strain to get to the bottom of the tank and sometimes even float backwards up to the top of the tank. I am not sure why this is the case but they do. Pearl scales look like they have swallowed a golf ball, their whole body is a perfect ball, with a tiny head, big eyes and beautiful long tails and fins to swim with. They really do remind me of a cartoon and I think they are really cute and funny fish. The money from the sale of this artwork will go to the phoenix appeal.
This is a group for those after a little more creativity in their close up shots. We hope to push your boundaries, to think outside, inside over and under the (match) box !!
This is for very close up or “macro type” shots of SMALL things, set up or posed in some way that is humourous
We want to see small things ‘doing’ something ‘out of the ordinary’.
See what else has been accepted into the group and be inspired to try something different.
Close-up shots of small things just being “small” isnt what we’re after… sorry.
Children, babies, dogs, cats, landscapes, cars, boats, lighthouses, etc etc etc ARE NOT SMALL THINGS !!
People who repeatedly add “not small things” will be removed the group without notice !!.
