Taken on the same morning as the previous upload of Buachaille Etive Mor , this time looking in the opposite direction . While waiting for the mist to lift from the Buachaille and for a bit of light to break through , I noticed there was some nice effects on the mountains behind. The pictire lacks a bit of the colour and light we got later on from the Buachaille , but I think it captures that moody, brooding feel that Scotland often has . Thankyou so much for all your great comments yesturday and sorry I can’t answer everyone induvidually! Canon 400D , sigma 10-20mm , Lee filters F16 iso 100 . Raw

Mannis Branch Falls is kinda of a hidden falls along Little River Road in the Great Smoky Mountains. Other than the Winter months when the leaves are off it can’t be seen from the road. Even in Winter it is easy to miss. It’s located between Metcalf Bottoms picnic area and Elkmont Campground turnoff. This is the lower section of the falls. These are the mountains that surround Little Lakes Valley in the Eastern High Sierra of California. I’m not sure of their name, but they are gorgeous! Yes, it looks like reflective aluminium foil, but it’s water. Doesn’t it remind you of the golden foil-like metal on the side of the lunar module that took Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin to the moon? I’ve shot dawn and dusk across the Yarra River several times, but on this morning, just before Easter 2007, the breeze had turned the surface of the river into a symphony of tightly-knit ripples. Standing on Princes Bridge, I was actually shooting the sun as it slowly edged above the horizon when I noticed this majestic avenue of reflected light across the water. I was about to shoot an image with the golden sheen right in the middle of the frame, when I noticed a four-man rowing crew approaching. I deliberately shot this as an asymmetrical composition, so that the eye would be drawn first to the sheen on the left and then to the rowers in the top right-hand corner. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F13, 1/750 sec, ISO 200, focal length 108mm. 22-7965

There are millions of pictures of world-famous Spirit Island, at the upper end of Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park, Alberta,Canada. I always try to find a different angle, if possible, and I liked the way the mountains provided a backdrop to the stand of trees on the end of the island. This is actually just a small sandspit with trees on it, the actual island is a lot bigger but we didn’t have time to do much exploring. The peaks are one of many ridges of the Rocky Mountains. And the elusive sunlight gave me a short break! Jasper N.P. is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
