The Crawley Edge Boatshed on the Swan River, One of the most iconic landmarks in Perth. The Boatshed is believed to have been built in the 1930’s. I spent a nice warm summers night shooting at this location out with my new 5DMkII. Featured in: Insomniacs and Other Night Crawlers.

This is my personal dedication to one of the best night’s out Melbourne had to offer in the late 90s – mid 00s. The night, by the same name, was held at Room680, in Hawthorn. It was the home to some of the best DJs and music at the time, and became a place of great memories for me today. The original Japanese Kanji characters were taken from a poster in a back alley in Chinatown, Melbourne. The two characters represent anarchy and chaos. Filled the background with a deep red, added a dusty, scratchy layer, then a splattered paint layer, faded both slightly. Two layers of the same broken glass on top of that. Then a bit of tweaking and contrast adjustment to get this rather vibrant, if not slightly crazy looking piece. The night itself was nothing short of crazy, busy, active and fun. Kinda gave you the energy to run out and throw yourself through a window.. but in a good way! Themed loosely around Japanese underground electronica clubs. Thanks Teriyakianarkisaki for a great few years of fun! Deep in the forest the ooze of horror floods the atmosphere, a baby sleeps, cradled in it’s pram by an open window.. the baby wakes and cries loudly, the parents think it’s colic but baby knows better.. Experimenting quite late around 3am with almost every conceivable technique was used to create this.. / I hope you like it… Scary Dreams was featured: /
What is it like to leave, to go away not come back. I probably think about it way too much, I used to want to go so badly, more for the sake of it than anything else. Right now though, I have reason to stick around. / I touched a leaver on this morning, the feeling didn’t linger the way it did the other day, It was cold, I expected the warmth like i am used to, the feeling of acceptance of my touch being absorbed into the skin. At least he had his hat with him as he was on his way, its alright, it meant something to us to see it go with him, the smiles formed beneath the tears dispersing them at least for a little while. / One foot in front of the other we carried an empty box a moment after the last glances of the dust trails left behind. / Where did you go? i can only wonder, you say you’ll be there on that day you spoke, but will you really? or is it just a pleasant thought that can be believed to be true, I’ll smile for you. / / . Self-portrait after unfortunate encounter with the doorway on Ambien at 2 am… Kick in the Eye, Bauhaus “And he spoke of pastures green / I was never told why / Each journey lasts an age / And my throat feels dry / It must be the lesson / Hidden deep inside / It must be the lesson / So roll the tide So I began the crossing / My throat burned dry / Searching for Satori / The kick in the eye”
Thank you to Tama Blough for the wonderful texture. / / Made under sleep deprived conditions (as usual).
I spent a hot summers night shooting down at Lake Clifton (About 100km South of Perth) and part of the Yalgorup National Park. There wasn’t any moon light on this visit, unlike My Last Visit to the lake, I had been planning on shooting some star trails, so the conditions turned out to be ideal to shoot star trails, unfortunately the tide was coming in, so the Thrombolites were submerged again on this visit. This was a 1 hour 17 minute exposure shot with EOS 7D And 15-85 IS Lens. I used a spotlight to illuminate the foreground and to bring out the details of the Thrombolites.
My little Tammy taken last Christmas at my aunts place looked cute as could be in her little dress, I used this photo and manipulated it heavily onto layers, using a bouquet on my table to set the scene I worked around it using experimental Tangerine coloring and created the grass with brushes.. also in a dark to light tangerine. / Created at 2:30am I’m now uploading what took me almost an hour to complete. I hope you like my modern Holly Hobbie :) Olympus E-300 / 32 mm / F/4.7 / 1/60 sec. / ISO-250

I’ve wanted to take a shot of playing cards for a long time, and decided to get it together last night. As my contraption is practically impossible to hold facing down, I had to stick some cards together with tape, lean them against my wall, and put the contraption to use with my viewfinder and DSLR. Layered the original shot three times, desaturated colour, increased contrast and added several filters in orange, yellow and sepia, desaturating a little each time. I had to get wet for this shot as I couldn’t get the camera set up low enough to get close to the Thrombolites, and get enough sky in the frame, so had to set the tripod up in the water to get the composition I wanted. I left the camera to shoot while I went off to shoot with my 300D at Another position This was a 50 minute exposure shot with EOS 7D And 15-85 IS Lens. This is still my favorite subject to photograph in Nebraska. I’m there two or three times a month but it has been a while since I visited at night. / Although I’ve had some strong success selling photos in the gift shop here, I have not yet captured a shot that defines its full beauty. Part of me hopes I never do because it’s so much fun trying.
I took some photo’s of my friends baby boy, he was laying on the bed, I played with the photo removing the background of the wardrobe etc.. then adjusted the contrast and lighting after adding a few brushes of dandelion effects :) / Created at 2am Would love your feedback on this as it is going to be a gift.
