I just come back from Seychelles where I could approach this sweet creature, but the welcome was not as expected as she tried to bite me several times, but I never gave up so easily & after a mutual understanding , she “authorize” me to shoot her! / (from what I saw on someone bottom later, they do have true strong theeth!!!)

This solitary spotted Hyena was desperate to approach a nearby carcass, but knew that there was a pride of lions sleeping out of sight in the bushes about 15 feet away. In the end, the Hyena just didn’t feel safe enough and left with an empty stomach.

The countries are Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The nearby Islands are Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Réunion, Seychelles and Zanzibar.
Please make sure that you name the country in which the photograph was taken in your description.
Let us learn from each other about conservation. The photographer has a unique responsibility in the effort to help preserve this incredible biodiversity in East and Southern Africa.

The possibilities for a great photograph are endless with these two regions considered by many as a photographer’s paradise!
Work may include photographs of anything nature and indigenous to these regions including wild animal & bird life, plant life, landscapes and even insects. Also allowed are photographs of rocks and rock formations, any body of water such as a lake, rivers and waterfalls and also natural coastal areas.
As long as your photograph was taken in any of the above mentioned countries and islands of something natural that is also indigenous to all or any of those countries or islands.
