Oil on canvas. God has blessed us with so much Beauty and nature sings of his Glory and majesty. Horses are such graceful animals and I love to watch them and paint them. If only more people would stop awhile and look around, They would see Gods handiwork and bathe in the Peace it gives to all who will just take time out and look.

I decided I had to come up with a process by which I could help my art students learn to use other colors then BLACK for shadows…shadows are all colors combined … I feel you can learn how to move out of your “color comfort zone” by taking the ceiling off of your thinking…hold your nose and jump in! / This is from a crazy combination of a Red-Bone Hound I had many years ago and a crazy card someone gave me! / I had great fun painting this because like I told my students ..there were no rules, any color was acceptable, just fly, be free! This is an oil and acrylic painting, 16”X20” on gallery wrapped stretched artist canvas. / Thankis for viewing…

I rendered in acrylic Its subtly different ..with much love to Van Gogh ~ who the world rejected in his time, & truly did not understand at all .. only a few did .. I Quote from Don MC Clean’s song Starry Starry night / Starry, starry night. / Flaming flowers that brightly blaze, Swirling clouds in violet haze, / Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue. / Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain, / Weathered faces lined in pain, / Are soothed beneath the artist’s loving hand. / For they could not love you, / But still your love was true. / And when no hope was left in sight / On that starry, starry night, / You took your life, as lovers often do. / But I could have told you, Vincent, / This world was never meant for one / As beautiful as you. ......
For a change of pace, I decided to try painting in Photoshop. Never done it. Thought it might be a good exercise. But what to paint. How about a piece that would give me an opportunity to do a variation on one of my favorite artists as well as be a good illustration for my wife’s company Listening House? This is how it turned out. Size: LARGE / Photoshop on computer screen artist’s collection, of course.

Acrylic and Oil on canvas Approximate size is40 cm X 50 cm My sons chased my daughter, Marnie around the house with a new camera that they got for Christmas. As you can see, she tried hard to get away from them. When I saw the images, I was struck by how children spend much of childhood running, both literally and devopmentally and how as parents, we spend a lot of time chasing them – just trying to keep up. / It is sad sometimes to look at photos of one’s children because you are reminded how fast it all goes. Sometimes it’s good to slow down . . .
Digital painting using Artrage – quite fun actually!
Oil on canvas / 31 cm x 40 cm
Acrylic on canvas / size is approx. 30 cm X 30 cm My daughter, Marnie – aged about 4 years old – at the beach and looking out to sea. I don’t know what she was looking at, but this is a nice memory.
Impressionist stylized painterly portraits, landscapes, seascapes and figurative art.
Impressionist stylized painterly portraits, landscapes, seascapes and figurative art.
Impressionist painting and drawing is an attempt to accurately and objectively record visual reality in terms of transient effects of light and colour.
Impressionism is a lot more a state of the mind than a technique;
thus other artists other than painters have also been qualified of impressionists.
Originally the theory of impressionism was that the colour should be dropped pure on the canvas rather than mixed on the palette. This was respected by a few for a few years in the 1800s.
Today, now that we have so many new paints and mediums to work with, while the original concept of impressionism remains the same, styles and techniques have evolved.
Impressionism Café embraces primarily traditionally Hand-Painted and Hand-Drawn impressionist art as well as contemporary and modern impressionist art ~ it is the evolution of impressionism that we are hoping to see, from the original hand-painted styles and techniques of impressionist paintings and drawings all the way to modern impressionist digitally created painted art and digitally created drawings.
our group does not accept photography or digitally altered photographs.
Impressionism Café cordially invites all Impressionist Artists from around the world to join our group and display their beautiful works of art.
