“To live with the conscious knowledge of the shadow of uncertainty, with the knowledge that disaster or tragedy could strike at any time; to be afraid and to know and acknowledge your fear, and still to live creatively and with unstinting love: that is to live with grace.” -Peter Henry Abrahams, The View From Coyaba, 1985

This is the first picture I took and my first view of Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a great day and I’m glad my (step) Dad took us! /

South of Franktown 10 miles—30 miles from Colorado Springs this beautiful bird landed on the fence post just in time for me to capture this scene.

Bristolhead Butte, and Indian paintbrush in foreground, in Creede Colorado. Captured with my Kodak Easyshare, Z612.

I have decided to try my hand at graduated neutral density goodness, and see if I can’t figure out how to use one of these beauties. I have a Lee .9 (3-stop) soft Grad ND filter, and have been going wild trying to find applications for this wonderful filter. It’s been a lot of learning that is for sure. The sunsets in the Crested Butte area have been just magical lately, here some storm clouds are clearing from the mountains surrounding Mt. Crested Butte. The Upper East River Valley is just a beautiful place and I’m very blessed to call this area home.
A full moon rising over the Sand Dunes in Alamosa, Colorado.
A photo taken at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in the San Luis Valley, Colorado. It snowed the day before and the dunes were covered in snow.
Garden Of The Gods, Manitou Springs, Colorado As hard as it is to express how one feels when standing in such a spot I shall try to sum it all up in one word. “Spiritual”. For many years the Native American’s have considered this place sacred, and one easily understands when visiting here. There simple is, no where else like it. This was quite a morning I had down here, with some very fresh snow the evening before, giving way to ultra clear skies and very pure air…Pikes Peak is in the distance. Fall bids ado to Winter’s grip / The waters run swift / But no longer deep / Allowing crystals of ice / To frame the reflection / Of a day spent in Nature…. / So lovely, peaceful and right
I was on the east side of town at dusk and was amazed at how large and how beautiful the moon looked. It was as though I could just reach up and touch it, no rocket needed. /
Dec 2008 Kodak Z650 EasyShare Digital / We live on the top of a hill and what I really love about our neighbors tree is that when it’s really dark out, this tree just shines.

Tucked back in the mountains on the way up, or down, Mount Evans is this small little waterfall. Here is a 3 shot long exposure HDR of this peaceful flowing water.
Sitting atop Mt. Evans is a peaceful little lake with some of the clearest water I have ever seen. This photo manages to capture the essence of clarity and reflective natural art perfectly. With a circular polarizer and a little HDR work…a masterpiece is created.
Ice crystals form / Along river’s edge / Showing Nature’s plan / Of glorious things to come Grasses brown / But sky still blue / This is the place / Where all my dreams / Come true (Moraine Park, Moraine River, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado)
