Comic Book Art Thread - Two Face (join in the fun!)
I thought it’d be fun to bounce between heroes and villains with these threads, and what better way to make that transition than with the man that mentally and physically walks a fine line between the two. Harvey Dent/Two-Face. Here are a few fine examples of this complex character to get the ball rolling. SEAN PHILLIPS TIM SALE DAVID PETERSEN LEE BERMEJO SIMONE BIANCHI I can’t wait to see what crazy interpretations we’re going to see this week! ps. Remember that, as we’re drawing characters created and owned by other people, we need to make sure we don’t make these image available for sale :-) Thanks! |

WOW those are all exquisite pieces! Its gonna be though for me to even get close to something like this! |
I’m not sure if you’re purposefully making these as difficult as possible, but I thank you for it :) |
Man, I haven’t even read one comic with Two Face in it, being a Marvel kid in the most part. I’ll just have to draw all my inspiration from Tommy Lee Jones’ portrayal of the character. |
wooooooooow, they are all amazing! |
haha, oh man, This is going to be Fun ! |
There are some killer Two-Face stories. If you get a chance you should check out Batman: Jekyll and Hyde which features art by Jae Lee and Sean Phillips, it’s outstanding. Same goes for The Long Halloween, featuring wonderful Tim Sale artwork. |
@Mike, it’s funny, the Marvel comics were the only ones I didn’t go near at the comic book store. But I suspect that’s probably because I didn’t start getting into comics until I was about 20, and I think the Marvel stuff is aimed at a lower age bracket ? It seemed that way to me anyway. |
The Long Halloween, Dark Victory and Haunted Knight are the only three Batman graphic novels I own (and I love Batman). Basically I would buy anything with Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale involved. |
OctoChimp: But like I say; I’ve read precious little DC comics so I can’t make a sufficiently informed comparison. |
Well, as Matthew knows, I wasn’t going to release my personal project just yet but since the oppitunity has presented itself… I present my take on Harvey Dent:
This painting is 1 in 25 of my personal project called Gotham’s Rogue Gallery and at present, I am half way through and its taken me about 8 months to get to that point. I do look forward to showing the set. Anyway, Frank Miller’s Batman Graphic Novels were amazing and having Harvey Dent healed in the first one was cool. Also, in the Hush comics, he is healed but takes on a different tact than what he did in the Frank Miller graffy. |
I’ve never heard of Simone Bianchi – she’s brilliant! I’m going to have to find some of her work. Here’s my take on TwoFace:
Good to see people kicking in fast. Simone’s actually a guy, had a pretty cool run on Wolverine and Astonishing X-Men, crazy stuff. |
That’s great man. 3 pieces in and we’re already seeing a fantastic range of styles and approaches. |
Lloyd, Ross, Rusty, wonderful work. Really interesting to see the different styles you’re all bringing to this project. Awesome :) |
Awesome Matt. He wouldn’t look out of place facing off against Leroy :) |
Neat stuff, kids! Matt – Do you also plan to jump between guys and gals? Be nice to get an even mix of both. (And I do like to draw the ladies.) |
Definitely. The next one lined up is a lady, a very dangerous one! |
I did this in the last five minutes…so its a bit everywhere – its unedited but heres mine…..Matt yours is insane that pink is wow.
Good to see you join n the fun lady :-P That looks cool, very raw and painful. |
