I created this drawing to enter in the challenge for the Tiger Tiger Group. A fantasy sort of idea about a tiger playing in the water…with “WATER TORNADOES:):)” This drawing took around seven days to complete. I used Faber Castell, polychromos art pencils to draw this piece with. Thanks, Patricia Anne, for your friendliness and encouragement concerning my work. I quit creating for years and a few years ago I made the decision to pick up my pencil again and start creating. I just did not realize how bad I missed it. These challenges are excellent, regardless of the outcome, because it challenges me to think up ideas and then I attempt to put my thoughts onto paper, which allows me to hopefully grow as an artist. Thanks for viewing my work:) cathy
ink on watercolor paper. i never became the prince charming i thought i would grow into. / i never became the rock star i thought i would be. / my work does not sell in galleries in soho or hang in itialian museums. / i never became a jet-fighter pilot or architecht. / women don’t trip on the sidewalk when i pass. / most opportunities presented to me are passed up. / i have let most of my friends vanish into the fog of my memory. / i have let most of my memories go into the fog of the past. / despite any company i may keep, i am mostly alone. / there are fractions of me that belong to those few, close people. / no matter how quiet and simple my life is, / no matter how many nights i cannot (or chose to not) sleep, / no matter how many walks i take alone, / i am not lonely. / i do not need more. / those truly close to me give me more love than i ever thought i could have. / when i look into the mirror i am faced with a surprising man. / although i may aspire to more, / for now, my simple life fits me like a glove.
I designed this for a poster for my friends new band, Reckless Cause. I had a week to come up with a concept for a poster, and this is where i ended up. The idea behind it, basically, is: to be a part of a cause is to put your hand in it, or put your hand up for it, or at least thats how i figured it. The tree layered over the top of the hand can be seen as purely decorative, or if you want to look deeper into the concept, it could be seen as breaking or cracking up the hand, because of the recklessness of the cause! The band were very happy with the design, as was I. Hope you enjoy it :) Check out their myspace, www.myspace.com/recklesscause

Black ink on A5 110 gsm Cartridge Yet another “Byron holiday” drawing, from back in ‘07… / I was sitting in a cafe drawing this / ... The waiter, Adam, happened to notice, commented & we got to chatting… He asked whether i’d ever done Tattoo designs before(i’m often asked this, not sure why?)... “Um, no”... “but i’ll give it a shot”... Adam knew he wanted waves, as he’s a surf instructor, as well as snow flakes & faces… the sun setting over the ocean & Byron hills came from another of my drawings done whilst up there. / We traded in coffees… which i know coffee costs next to nothing to make, but given how many i used to drink in a week i think i came out well in front!!! / I have recently added a little more detail to the original. / Another of the cafe staff purchased a print of this for the basis of a tattoo for her boyfriend… hopefully he had plenty of patience! Ouch!

“I Recommend” is all about art appreciation. Seen something special on redbubble lately? This your chance to let the artist know how much you liked their work and advise others to check it out!
Q and A’s
001.How do I recommend an artists artwork?
Comment on the piece you’re recommending with something like the following:
I recommend this (artwork, painting, photograph, tee, design fill in the blank here with whatever you want) because of (describe why you like it, how it makes you feel, why you want to share it with others).
Feel free to say as much or as little about the artist’s work as you like. Then Ask them if they would like to submit the piece to this group . One of the moderators will check for your comment and then add the work to the group.
002. What will be rejected?
Since all art is subjective to tastes and opinions all work submitted with an “I Recommend” comment will be added to the group. But anything without such a comment will not be added to the group.
Also you can not recommend your own work, there are many other groups for that. This isn’t one of them.
I Recommend is just one of 1710 creative groups powered by RedBubble.
