One of my favorite animals on this beautiful earth, the White-Bellied Sea Eagle. This one shot on the North Shore beach, about 10 kilometres north of Noosa Heads. Heaps of light on a cloudless day, made for great light for this kind of photography. the shutter speed was 1/2000th sec, so it froze the action nicely :) Canon 5D Mk II, 400mm. I thought I would have a go at a larger painting. / (Gouache 23×15). Barn owls are mainly crepuscular (active at dusk and dawn), there is huge individual variation – some are highly nocturnal whereas others regularly hunt by day. Barn Owls are amazingly efficient hunters. When prey is abundant and the weather favourable they are able to catch food every few minutes! Although Barn Owls are highly adapted specialists, they are also incredibly vulnerable. Their soft feathers are not very waterproof so rainfall is a problem. A wet Barn Owl is unable to fly silently and a weak wet Barn Owl may be unable to fly at all. My painting shows the Barn Owl pruning its wings, a regular requirement in winter!

A bit of a surprise on a Sanibel Island FL beach. A marbled godwit turned up for a rest on its migratory flight , It came from the NW of the USA…Maybe the Dakotas. What a long trip for such a small bird…and he was all alone…No wonder he had to take a rest. Canon 40D / 70-300 lens F: 6 / Shutter 1/1000 / ISO 400 / Lens: 300mm
Walking in Sydney recently and found these amazingly coloured Rainbow Lorikeets sitting on their Gum Tree nest. Nikon D90 and 18 – 200 lens
I think I might adopt this little guy and his lady friend as they love my car’s mirrors. A Superb Fairy-wren, Malurus cyaneus checking himself in the mirror. He let me get to almost within a metre to take this photo.
A wild living pigeon on the river bank – but the ring on it´s leg shows it has run away from a pigeon breeder. ;)
Went out with 3 other RB’ers to Sanibel Island, Florida. This opsery is one of many birds we captured that day. It was having its lunch, all that is left is the fish tail. Thanks to Liz , / Gouzel and Gina I had a great time, and look forward to seeing Liz and Gouzel in Jan. and we will go out again. Best view large / Canon 40D / canon 400mm / ISO 100 / f/8 1/400 /

Greenwing Macaw growing fast. Part of a weekly series.
This little hummingbird has been nesting around my house. She is there every morning. I was taking shot of an eagle this morning and she was flying back and forth beside me as if to say “Why are you not taking pictures of me?” So I had too.
This is a shot of a Bald Eagle that I captured while in Dutch Harbor, Alaska where I commercially fish out of.

The Northern Cardinal has a distinctive crest on the head and a mask on the face which is black in the male and gray in the female. The male behaves territorially, marking out his territory with song. During courtship, the male feeds seed to the female beak-to-beak. This poor guy had to be freezing. It was around 20 degrees that day. This was taken in my back yard in Rockaway, NJ.

cardinals hang out in my backyard all day, they are so beautiful / holland Michigan
A Giant among blackbirds, they are very common here in the mid west. Often found in parking lots and parks forging for what ever they can find to eat. They do not seem to fear people as you can see she came right up to me and posed. They are a noisy bird with sharp clucks and high pitch shrills.
Another shot taken on my way home in Marana Az.
she will dream about pink color. Everything around this bird is pink.
