My model and senior friend Mr Shammi Kapoor, all set to pose for me as village sarpanch. A sarpanch is a democratically elected head of a village level statutory institution of local self-Government called the Gram (village) Panchayat in India and also in Pakistan. He, together with other elected Panches (members), constitute the Gram Panchayat.The Sarpanch is the focal point of contact between government officers and the village community. We spotted this little fellow feeding amongst the vegetation while walking around the grounds of our hotel. Pretty fortunate to get within 30 meters of him without scaring him away. In this photo he had just stopped eating for a moment & was having a scratch before continuing on with his meal. / Despite their cute and cuddly appearance, wombats are incredibly powerful animals who dig numerous, deep burrows throughout their habitat. They are affectionately known as the “bulldozers of the bush”
