Steven is what I’d call serious about flyfishing. :) He spends any spare moment learning more about it and/or practicing it! It was only fitting to have some of his senior photos reflect what he so deeply loves.

My grandson visited with us for a couple of weeks, and we had such fun boat riding. It was his first ride in a pontoon boat, and he loved sitting at the rear of the boat to watch the wake created by the motor’s action in the water. Taken with a Nikon 14-24 mm wide angle lens; Nikon D700 camera.
Inspired by Hemmingway’s book “The old man and the sea” I thought I would do my own version. This painting was done with the old school fishermen in mind who set out in small wooden boats with basic fishing gear or hand lines and caught large billfish and tuna. The original is 20” X 24”

The heavy tackle Marlin season is about to commence in Far North Queensland. Cairns is a world renowned location for some of the best Marlin fishing known to man. / It is not unusual to see Marlin over 1000lb enjoying the warm waters of Far North Queensland. / Our Charter boat is a “tag and release” game boat and we are looking forward to the season ahead. / Please feel free to checkout our website at www.coolrunningscharters.net Canon 5D / Lens 17-40 f/4 L BEST VIEWED LARGER

Yes, this is it, the “Wizard”! I actually found the ship moored right in Seattle, Wa. What a treat, as I am a great fan of the Deadliest Catch Show on the Discover Channel. Captain Keith Colburn Captain Keith Colburn of Redmond, Washington, has served at the helm of the Wizard for the last 14 years. In 2005 he took a huge risk in purchasing the Wizard without any of her valuable crab quota. The Wizard is a World War II era ship that was converted into a fishing vessel in 1978. The boat, a perennial top five producer, is one of the largest vessels in the fleet at 155 feet in length. Being forced to lease his entire crab quota, Keith struggled in his first year as captain of the Wizard. Joining Keith are his brother Monte, an experienced deckhand who takes over as skipper for the last half of opilio season; first mate Gary Soper, a fishing veteran of 20 years; and deckhands Art Peterson, Lenny Lekanoff, Crosby LeVeen and Nick Maurer. Keith is also keeping a close eye on his greenhorns this season. One is only 21, the other is 10 years older, but both are being tested by the Bering in their own ways… Keith started out as a deckhand on the boat in 1988, and eventually took over the skipper duties in 1994. When the owner was looking to sell the boat, Keith took a gamble and purchased it in 2005, knowing he would have to lease virtually all of his crab quota since he didn’t own the boat when IFQs (individual fishing quotas) were issued to boat owners earlier that year. The IFQ situation forces Keith to lease his quota from other boats year after year, as well as hire cheaper greenhorns to keep his costs down—making the stakes much higher. Always the adventure seeker, Keith recently ran with the bulls in Pamplona. He lives outside Seattle, Wash., with his wife and two children.
Mike Rucci, fellow Redbubbler, decided to do some fishing at the Conowingo Dam to pass the time while waiting to take pictures of Bald Eagles. Although it was a very beautiful day at the dam, the Eagles were not very active. One fellow photographer with a HUGE lens said he counted approximately 115 Eagles along the shores of the Susquehanna River, but they weren’t doing much flying. Taken 11/15/09 at the Conowingo Dam, Susquehanna River, Maryland Some Redbubblers are meeting at the Conowingo Dam on Saturday Nov 21…. the Eagles have been pretty active the last couple days. The highlands of Tasmania turned on a fine day when we turned up to do some filming, I have put together a DVD on fly tying and we wanted to get some fishing footage to break the tying sequences up a little. We had both sleet and snow and not a fish in sight, of course we had great fishing the day before and again the day after but not when the camera was there. / Bronte Lagoon / Olympus e500 / 14-54 lens
We visited the Elk River area in North Alabama for the last several weeks—covers a wide expansive area. Fishing and boating were GREAT! Cooking fresh fish is wonderful in the evening! This shot was taken as friends were comming in from deeper areas on the river. It was a lot of great eating that night! Camera: Panasonic Lumix Mega O.I.S. 5X Optical Zoom DMC-LZ8.
With a Toyota hunting “trip”, my two friends Jo and TK, both prof hunters, was on the red carpet, for what they seemingly did wrong, while in charge of the hunters. At the “hearing” waiting for their punishment!
I was lucky enough to go out on the boat while we did some bait fishing for the Marlin Season in Cairns. As we were heading to a reef for a night stay we threw out some heavy tackly lines to try our luck with the Black Marlin. Wihtin 10mins of the lines being out I was called out to the Marlin chair as we had landed one. 15mins later I had caught my first Black Marlin a baby in comparison to what they get up to but 180lb Black Marlin is nothing to laugh at so I am happy to say that I have caught my first Black Marlin and what a buzz it was, just the most amazing experience I have every felt. I know no why people come from all over the world to try and catch one of these fish. The photo was taken by David my partner as I was still coming of the high, and this is the photo of my first Black Marlin…I named him Josh who was our deckie and guided me through this amazing experience. He was not hurt and released to fight another day….. Canon 5D / Canon 17-40 f4LUSM Lens BEST VIEWED LARGER
