Historic Places *2 per day*

Group Rules:

This group is for photographs of places and things that have received “official” historic designation. The designation can be from local, state or national levels.

1. The historic designation must be listed in the title or description of each photo submitted.

2. The subject of the photo must depict an object, landscape or landmark that is of historical significance

Historic Landmark, Historic Site, Historic Monument, Historic District and Historic Property are a few of types of historic designations.

There are National Parks, Historic Parks, Historic Treasures, Historic Byways, as well as Centennial Farms, Cemeteries, and Battlefields. The National Historic Register, National Historic Commission, National Historical Perservation Society and National Historic Trust some of the groups that grant designations.

Here are some examples of entries that would be accepted:

Any building, district, or object listed on the National Historic Register

Any building in an officially designated Historic Site

A building or device or implement in a State Historic Park

A Historic Monument The oddest example of this is a “Felix the Cat” sign on an Automobile Dealership in downtown Los Angeles that has received Historical Monument designation.

Also, the historic place/object must be the main subject of the photo. People, pets, etc. can be in the photo, but must not be the subject of the photo.

There are 2 submissions allowed per day with no limit on the total number of submissions. Features will be chosen daily. There will be about 6 challenges per year.

Please, no macros and no nudity.

Only minimal photoshopping or editing. No use of post editing that takes the focus away from the historical subject. Moderate HDR is acceptable.

Remember, the “official historic designation” must be listed in the description or title of each photo.
