This is our update to the Group Rules, January 2012:

All Glorious Lilies
This group is for images of Lily flowers to display their glorious beauty, whether macro, close-up, featuring a plant or a garden display. 2 images a day are allowed.

Photographers, traditional artists and digital creators are able to submit their Glorious Lilies images to this group.

Please add your very best work, and note that out of camera images are discouraged where they have blow-outs or high shade contrasts, etc.

People use the term lily to refer to flowering plants of several different species, genus and family types. For example, most people know the lilies – lilum – that belong to the Liliaceae family.

These are indeed included in this group, and the official flower list of the genera used by this group is The Plant List (A working list of all plant species). This website is a collaboration of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and the Missouri Botanical Gardens. It is a working list of all known plant species. It is a most interesting website for anyone interested in botany, flowers and horticulture. This is the link to the site:

We’re inclusive here in the All Glorious Lilies Group. We include flowers with lily in the common name. Examples are the water lily and arum lily who belong to different families – the water lily is a member of the nymphaeaceae family and the arum is a member of the araceae family.
