I painted this one for a theme at a museum called “Tea Party” The doily was interesting to paint. This is acrylic paints on canvas 16×20. I have always been influenced by the greats-Monet is my fav even though I can’t paint like him.
Original artwork signed Dorina Costras / Watercolor + acrylic / 45/60 cm
This is for texture. It is acrylics on canvas with some texture done with a pallette knife. I mix salt with the paints for the interesting effects. Monet is my favorite artist even though I can’t paint like him. His use of color and texture always fascinated me.
First I done lots of drawings of an old violin. Then I thought about the colours I wanted to use. I painted the background first and went on from there. On the right I made a splash of paint because it needed something there. Later when the painting was nearly finished I created a flower from it.

Watercolor , ink and pastel on Canton Paper / This work has 921 views to date 21/11/09 FEATURED IN THE AVANT-GUARDE GROUP Finally, I have finished my drawing of Nikki, and I have to say I am wrapt. I hope Nikki is also. / Now for those who don’t know my technique, first I design the composition on photoshop using my models, or muses who send me their faces. Then after that I sketch up the drawing onto a large scale A1 or larger piece of paper. Tape it to the easel and away I go. First it starts with graphite, then ink, then watercolour, then pastels, then conte and a touch of pastel here and there and VOILA! I might enter this in a competition which I have been invited to go into in Fitzroy, not sure if to enter this one or other Lady in Landscape. Please let me know what you think of this drawing in comparison to my digital mock up…some say why do a drawing at all when the digital is just as good. But I hope I have added some artistic freedom to the piece and its not exactly the same. If you would like to be a muse let me know. Thanks for looking . Billy FINISHED DRAWING – date 12.4.08 / Going to enter this works in the Works on Paper Mornington REgional Gallery this year Belinda Nye, BillyLee, Billy,

Oil on Canvas board, approx 90 hours work. P51 Mustang “Miss Steve” flown by Bill Cullerton. This was my second commission and now hangs in the American War Cemetery in East Anglia. Bill became an ace and was based at Steeple Morden in Cambridgeshire, England. In Bill’s book, he describes in detail the moment he was shot down, shott by an SS officer at point blank range and left for dead. He regained conciousness hours later and was eventually rescued by locals who took him a nearby hospital (german occupied of course) from where he later escaped and returned to England. The sight of the tower was a Life saving beacon for Cullerton, for when he saw the tower of the church in the distance he knew he was almost home . The feeling of surviving another mission and coming back home was overwhelming. On the Launch day of the painting I was invited to the Church where the painting would be shown to Bill for the first time. It was strange to think that I was sat there in the church with Bill, the painting which depicted the church and the plane, his wife (after which the plane was named) and ground crew who were also stationed at Steeple morden. Only a handful of people were in that church, local TV had also attended to capture the event. Bill retold the his war time stories infront of everyone , the occassion was a very moving and sincere affair, of which I was most grateful to be part of. Thanks must got to my family for their support during painting this piece and artist such as Michael Turner who’s work i have enjoyed since a child.

Just a few centuries ago, almost all of fine artists studied to copy his master’s paintings. But today very few artist do this. Because they are in a hurry to create their own original styles. We doubt if it is good or not. We should learn more from the masterpiece. So we want to tell you that copying a masterpiece is a very useful way to study fine art, especially for a self-taught artist. Join us and upload your studying or reproduction.
We have decided to broaden the scope of this group. Thus a masterpiece can be from fine art to designer art. It can include any art era such as pop art or impressionism etc. What is most important is that you got an idea, concept, design, or palette etc. for your painting from a master artist. A master meaning anyone who has made it big in the art world.
An example could be you created a painting in your own style but your mentor in the art world was Andy Warhol and a bit of his style is incorporated into your painting. That painting will be accepted into this group. The only rule we request is that the artist’s name who inspired you is included in your description. This group is for anyone from beginners to the far advanced.
