Eglise St Lubin Ruined church at Yèvre-le-Châtel, France. The rumour is that the church was never finished, either as result of politicking, or war; the truth though is that it was sacked during the religious wars. Rather less romantic, but the walls are in such good condition that it is easy to believe the rumour! It is still consecrated ground, with an active graveyard, and I understand that services are held there from time to time. Canon PowerShot SX10 IS
This is one of the outbuildings near the old castle at Yevre-le-Chatel. When you stop and look, it makes you wonder who has been in and out through it over all those hundreds and hundreds of years. Canon PowerShot SX10 IS
Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris One of the most exciting walks around Paris at night is around the Cathedral, lit up in such a way as to bring the gargoyles into life above you. In every little nook or cranny, there’s a demon or a gargoyle or a little face peeking out… Canon PowerShot SX10 IS
In the municipal cemetery in Malesherbes, France There are two of these Gothic “chapels,” each belonging to a different family, facing each other across the expanse of the graveyard. Perhaps the two families were the Capulets and the Monatgues of Malsherbes, trying to out-do each other in the opulence of their sepulcres! Canon PowerShot SX10 IS
The river flows past the old town walls, then on along this stretch where the houses back onto it, with their washing places and so on. This all goes back in places to medieval times. Etampes, France

This poor gargoyle looks as though he is beginning to slip from the fingers of the man holding him! St Gilles Church, Etampes, France.
This is where the poor, frightened gargoyle from “Screaming with Fear!” lives. You can just make him out at the far end, above the lamp-post!

We visit France several times each year and we never tire of its culture, the way of life and the unfailing courtesy that people seem to display towards one another This group has been formed mainly as a celebration of the architecture that is to be found in La belle France.
We would wish to see some excellent work with real thought given to light and composition and an absolute minimum of manipulation; if in doubt artists should refer to people such as Ansel Adams, Eddie Adams, Robert Capa, Robert Doisneau, Walker Evans, Lewis Hine, Dorothea Lange, Joe Rosenthal, Eduard Steichen, Alfred Stieglitz, Paul Strand et al.
Please join us and enjoy..
