From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Centre Georges Pompidou (constructed 1971–1977 and known as the Pompidou Centre in English) is a complex in the Beaubourg area of the 4th arrondissement of Paris, near Les Halles, rue Montorgueil and the Marais. It was designed in the style of high-tech architecture. It houses the Bibliothèque publique d’information, a vast public library, the Musée National d’Art Moderne which is the largest museum for modern art in Europe, and IRCAM, a centre for music and acoustic research. Because of its location, the Centre is known locally as Beaubourg. It is named after Georges Pompidou, the President of France from 1969 to 1974 who decided its creation, and was officially opened on 31 January 1977 by the then-French President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing. The Centre Pompidou has had over 150 million visitors since 1977. It was used extensively as the backdrop for the 1986 Electric Light Orchestra video “Calling America”

The picturesque Dorgogne Valley of France has a treasure at every turn. Whether you are pedaling along a quiet backcountry lane, enjoying a stroll after a delicious meal, or touring by car with Michelin guide in hand, there are delights around many a corner. This scene is near Carennac, about an hour north of Cahors, and the chateau in the distance is Castelnau-Bretenoux. Canon 40D.
My grand-parents’s house is located in Alet-les-Bains, in the Aude region, SW France. Cathar country. All the old half-timbered houses like this one in the medieval little town of Alet, date back the fourteeth century. All are listed. / When we were young, it was like entering into some mysterious castles with a monumental stone stair going up the first wooden floor…. / All the rooms are of huge proportions and dark with very thick walls. / There’s even an underground passage right under the house which was scaring us at the time !

Paris by night, France
We visit France several times each year and we never tire of its culture, the way of life and the unfailing courtesy that people seem to display towards one another This group has been formed mainly as a celebration of the architecture that is to be found in La belle France.
We would wish to see some excellent work with real thought given to light and composition and an absolute minimum of manipulation; if in doubt artists should refer to people such as Ansel Adams, Eddie Adams, Robert Capa, Robert Doisneau, Walker Evans, Lewis Hine, Dorothea Lange, Joe Rosenthal, Eduard Steichen, Alfred Stieglitz, Paul Strand et al.
Please join us and enjoy..
