One of the four Wentworth Follies – North of Rotherham, South Yorkshire , UK / Essentially it is a Stone Gateway in the form of a pyramid estimated to have been built in the mid 18th century. / Local Folklore has it that the second Marquis of Rockingham had it built to settle a wager that he “could ride a horse and carriage through the eye of a needle!” / At the time he was one of the richest men in England. It is thought there is reference to Christian gospel saying that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God! Its amazing what one will do to prove a point ! (Child depicted is my son)
Is Selling easy? and t-shirts? Selling and no selling….is the problem. / (Selling is no problem I believe). First we have to start reasoning out: / Why are we here? / To sell or to promote?? / Or to promote and then sell? / Is promoting enough? / Is selling so good? (selling a couple of card makes no difference) If you have a good piece of work, definitely there is someone on redbubble that buy it. / The only problem is that there are too many users on redbubble and most probably, this “buyer” won’t see and buy your work. Pity!! / Solution? / The solution is to make a good marketing tool of yourself, promote your are in the right group/s, link you works with each other, being on he watchlist of others etc etc. / The more your work is seen the more you have chances to promote yourself and the chances to sell increases. There are other factors to take in consideration: / 1) If you don’t buy others works, do not expect that others buy yours. / 2) Find a good timing when posting new works. If you post at extremes (busiest ot less busiest time) you work might not be seen by lots of people. / 3) Use journals and forums to inform others what you are doing. / 4) Make “resolutions” or what to expect from yourself. At the end of 2008 I had posted a journal Resolutions and Aiming for in 2009 on Redbubble where I have set some figures to reach. And till now I am on track. / 5) If you place a high percentage of commission on sales, the prices of your work are more expensive and less targeted. / 6) You can check what others are managing to sell, and try to be in track with them It is not easy as one may think. / And reaching the redbubble homepage, although it is an honour to reach it; this cannot guarantee you any sales. I have reached the Redbubble Homepage 8 times / On the other hand, hundreds of works have been sold, without reaching the homepage. Also, what you like is not what other likes. For example I uploaded two t-shirts last week. / / I had expected that the first makes more success than the second but it didn’t (till now). / So, if you want to sell something, don’t produce works that you like, but produce works that others should like. ....and remaining on the theme of the t-shirts... / do not forget that redbubble is very generous at the moment … / .. tshirts are 15% OFF for 1 week.. / So…BUY BUY BUY . If this campaign will be a success, I believe that there will be more similar campaigns. I have read in different journals and forums, that it is easier to sell a t-shirt than anything else!! So, to all, HAPPY BUYING AND HAPPY SELLING / (I WILL BE GRATEFUL TO SELL MY WORK TO ALL OF YOU!!! LOL) I hope that I have been of some aid to some of you!!! / If you have some comments or anything to share….DON’T BE SHY!!!! (this journal was written by me, with no influence but nobody, and I do not have nothing to do(redbubble staff or whatever) or work with redbubble) Regards, Christian Zammit /
Built by the Abbe Berenger Saunier, at Rennes les Bains, with money acquired from sources that were never disclosed. It was built as a library to house the Abbe’s books. Because of the huge amount of money Saunier was immediately the focus of dozens of conspiracy theories. These ranged from the relationship between him and his housekeeper to him having discovered evidence that the Carolingian dynasty was the result of a relationship between JC and Mary Magdalen. Je ne sais pas. In England it would have been an excellent example of a folly. Stolen Work appearing on deviantART Kindly be advised that a deviantART member with user name tropicalpassion is stealing work from here and upload them on deviantART. One of my pictures was stolen. / I can assure you that RB does it best for works not to be stolen. In fact, only thumbnails or ver small works can be stolen. When I tried to compare the resolution of the art that was stolen, the one which is on deviantART is hopeless. The link where the stolen work is Stolen Work You can check there and comment on the stolen art…...some RB members have already done so. We are a strong community…so let us show them who we are. The Temple of Sybille is located in the famous Parcs des Buttes Chaumont, in the 19th arr. of Paris. It is the site of a former quarry used for the production of Gypsum and Limestone. Commissioned by Napoleon III it was designed by Baron Haussmann and Engineer Jean-Charles Alphand and opened, after four years of building works, as part of the festivities of the Universal Exhibition in 1867. Among those involved in the creation of Parc des Buttes Chaumont, along with Alphand and Baron Haussmann, was architect Gabriel Davioud, landscape designer Barillet-Deschamps, engineers Darcel and Belgrand and Gustave Alexander Eiffel. Features of the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, one of the largest of Paris’ urban parks, are numerous. The park includes several cliffs, bridges, a grotto which encloses a waterfall, a lake, and several English and Chinese gardens. The Belvedere of Sybil is the most prominent, sitting as it does, on a rocky peak at the centre of the parc. The Belvedere, added to the park in 1869, is a Corinthian style monument, modelled after the ancient Roman Temple of Sybil in Tivoli, Italy. Originally designed as a simple unadorned salle de verdure by Le Nôtre in 1678, this is possibly the grandest folly ever to be commissioned, La Colonnade with the “Abduction of Persephone” by François Girardon, is located within the gardens of the Palace of Versailles. Groups, hosts, challenges, voting, etc These are just my opinions and not facts. GROUPS / Groups are there to make our life on redbubble easier. The more time passes, the more groups are created. / Although not every group is good for everyone; everyone can join groups and vote. / It is an easy way to group similar works together. HOSTS / I am a host of two small groups and it a hassle. / I can imagine all the work done by the hosts of large groups: / moderation of work, creating challenges, see that everyone is happy, updated the group etc / It really takes alot of time, and every free minute you have, you try to dedicate it to the group. / No wonder why large groups have a lot of hosts and co-hosts. / From here I really wish to thank ALL THE HOSTS in every group. / GOOD JOB CHALLENGES / What a headache!! / Choosing subjects is always difficult. Submissions to challenges is not always good, depending on the subjecy. / But you have to limit your subject to the group’s theme. Some member do not like it when they cannot submit any work to the challenge. / HOSTS have to check that all the work submitted accept all conditions and rules. / And believe, it is not any easy task for HOSTS to remove works from challenges. VOTING / Voting is the worst thing for membersto do. / If they are competing in the challenge, they find it difficult to vote works of others. / If the subject is not intresting, they do not vote. / I hate it when I see challenges being won by 2 votes. It sounds funny!! FEATURED ON HOMEPAGE / EVERYBODY wants to get featured on the homepage. I do not know the criteria. / But…GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE !!! WORK SUBMISSION / I see that most of the work is really nice. BUT REALLY NICE!!! / But I always hate to say that there are some work, which is not nice and still is submitted on redbubble. / When I submit a work, and it receives very very few visits and comments, I remove it immediately. / Better to submit 3 good pieces of work that 10 piecs which are below standard. WHAT WOULD I DO? / CHALLENGES: at the end of the challenges, I would show all votes received for every work. Sometimes there can be ties, that canot be figured out by the present format. / HOMEPAGE FEATURES: I would create a new section with screen shots of FEATURES ON THE HOMEPAGE. This way, whoever missed his work being features, he can see it at a later stage. / PEOPLE: I would create a new section, sorting all member by country. This ways you can make more friends, and also create activities in your area and invite the “neighbours”. THANKS TO ALL THE HOSTS FOR ACCEPTING THIS IN THEIR GROUP / THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO ADDED ME IN THEIR WATCHLIST WHAT WOULD YOU DO?? Regards, Christian Zammit /
Marsden Grotto lies at the foot of the cliffs at Marsden, just to the North of Sunderland, England and is a pub with a restaurant. It is actually built into the bottom of the cliff. It is accessed both by a lift (that’s the tower in the picture) and several flights of stairs, for those with strong lungs and legs.

It is a Listed Grade II monument, a very grand folly indeed; The Earl of Durham’s Monument was built in 1844 on Penshaw Hill, which is located between Sunderland and Houghton le Spring in the North East of England. Dedicated to John George Lambton its dimensions are 30m long, 16m wide and 20m high. It does have an upper walkway, accessed by a spiral staircase, but this has been closed to the public since Easter Monday 1926 following a fatal accident. Local legend has it that the monument is the home of the Lambton Worm. It was designed by the Greens of Newcastle and built by Thomas Pratt of Sunderland. The land was donated by Charles Vane with the building cost of £6000 being met from public subscription. It was modelled on the Theseum at Athens and is the best preserved example of Doric Hexastyle Temple in England. Technical Camera : D80 / Lens : Nikkor 18-200mm VR / Exposure : 1/60Sec / Aperture : F8.0 / Program : Manual / ISO : 200 / LightSource : sunny / Flash : Not fired / FocalLength : 130.00(mm)
In architecture, a folly is a building constructed strictly as a decoration, having none of the usual purposes of housing or sheltering associated with a conventional structure.
