  • State Theater by MKWhite

This is the historical State Theater in Plant City, Florida. According to one of the locals, it was built in 1939. It was used a theater until the early 60’s, at the moment it’s an empty building waiting for a new tenant (would be a cool place to have a gallery). It’s previous owner used it as an Emporium. *Update. State Theater is now featured in the Florida Group Click the image below to head over to the Florida Group and see some of the most talented photographers that the state of Florida has to offer :) Fireworks Photos (some with lightning) can be found here. • 'Profile of the Blue Morpho Butterfly' by SkyFox

Key West, Florida USA LARGE VIEW – Please! Shot with a telephoto lens (75-250) – as are all of my macros. (First ever butterfly capture! Im so happy!) The Blue Morpho Butterfly (Morpho peleides) drinks the juices from rotting fruits for food. Blue Morpho butterflies live in the rainforests of South America, and can be found in Mexico and Central America.I n the Keys – we get creatures from all over that arent suppose to be here – birds being a huge example. The wingspan of the Blue Morpho butterfly ranges from 7.5 cm to 20 cm. Interestingly – the entire Blue Morpho Butterflies lifecycle – from from egg to adult – is only 115 days. The larvae of Blue Morpho Butterflies are cannibals. The caterpillar Blue Morpho Butterfly is red-brown with patches of bright green. The brilliant blue color in the butterfly’s wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly. The Blue Morpho Butterflies stick together in groups to deter their predators. A form of Mobbing behavior. The wings reflect the light making them look metallic blue. • Trolley Car 432B Interior in HDR by MKWhite

Nikon D200 / Tokina F4 12-24mm Lens (my favorite lens) / 7 Exposures / Processed in Photomatix and CS3 This is the interior of Trolley Car 432B in Tampa, Fl. This trolley runs from the Ybor City area down to the Convention Center. Tampa’s first electric streetcars were introduced in 1892. The streetcar reached its peak of popularity in the 1920s. In 1926, almost 24 million passengers were carried. The first line shut down in August 4, 1946. The first streetcar system used the Birney Safety Car and, probably, other streetcar types. Streetcars returned to Tampa in 2002, when the 2.4 mile (3.9 km) long heritage line was opened. In its first year of operation, the streetcar carried 420,000, 20% more than projected. In 2005, 434,498 passenger used streetcar. A new 1/3 mile (1/2 km) extension is being planned. It will connect Franklin Street and the Fort Brooke parking garage.
